I have made the back of my personal phonebook, my travel section. Over the years, through sending out cards, etc, I have accumulated many addresses for my cruise pals..If I have recieved a cruise card from someone on board, I tape that in, also the t.a.'s number, and numbers associated to anything cruising..I also had printed lists which, I think I got from an old month at a glance calendar, of the 1-800 numbers for hotels, airlines and car rentals. This was so handy.
I went to rent a car, and went to this list and lo and behold ,it was not there. I did a search, and found another. Yayay !! I would like to update the hotel and airline list, but my quick search found none.Do any of you know of a site that lists the majors and their 1-800 #'s?
Btw.I was about to book the car through Priceline. I wanted just an economy car for 2 days precruise. So I started with a lowball bid of $14.00. That screen came up that says, you PROBABLY will NOT get it unless you bid $21.00 for good chance, and $22.00 for great chance. So then I went to my list, and amazingly, comparing apples to apples with 4 companies, the high was $87.00 [geez] to a low of $47.00...The per day cost from Dollar was LESS than the suggested Priceline start bid, so doing just a tiny bit of research paid off.
To those cruising soon, those cards you can make up on your puter, with your name and email etc, that you would like to pass along to someone you meet onboard, is an nice way to do it, rather than scrambling for paper and pen..

If it doesn't make it into my computer it is gone. My backup is post it notes. I am terrible at saving "paper". Luckily, I have a wife who does write down and save things otherwise I'd be out of luck . I'm glad you got the price you want on your rental car.
Just a FWIW: When using Priceline for hotels, ignore their "warning" message that your bid has little or no chance of being accepted.
Take care and keep bargain hunting!!
Mike

Trip-thanks for the idea about the "business cards". Maybe I can get my older daughter to do it for us before we go in January.
Rie:with my daughters' help, even I figured the clock out. Give it a try!! Just go to the bottom of CM page where it says Message Board Tricks and copy and paste(highlight the clock thing, rightclick and copy will come up,press that, then go to where you are replying to a message(I just made up a new post saying testing clock),then in the body of your post where you type;right click again and press on paste), then change the numbers to your cruise departure date and time and I think that was it. Then press POST as normal, then go back to your post to see if it worked. Good luck!! Give it a try!!Hopefully I explained it correctly;someone can help you if it does not work after the first few tries!!
