Tonight I got a call, that broke my heart. My oldest friend, [since I was eleven,] told me she found her son dead in their home this morning..What can you say to someone( My heart broke. I must say, she is the strongest person I know, who handles tragedies, with dignity and grace, in a way that I could never even come close to.This 31 year old man, and what a sweet man he was, did fight demons, and I hope he has found the peace he deserved, while on this earth, but somehow could not attain. Please hold a good thought tonight for this family. The funeral on Sunday will be a sad day for so many...Hug your family, and hold them close, my friends.

Trip..I am so sorry to hear about your friiends loss..Sometimes we just dont know. I deal with it everyday and I have never ever gotten use to it and hope I never do. I just have to deal with it. Sometimes it is hard though. Prayers going out to your friends family.
I am so sorry to hear your sad news about your friends son. My heart really goes out to you both and their family. I know exactly how you feel as the same thing happened to us five years ago. My cousin came home to find her 24 year old son dead in the garden shed. I really do not know how she coped with that. It shocked everyone in the family and even now find it hard to believe.
But as you said it makes you hold your own family a lot closer. What else can you say ,it is such a tragedy. Our prayers are with you.
I was so sorry to hear about your friend's son, what a tragedy. Just try to be as supportative as you can to your friend, words are just difficult to express how anyone would feel at such a loss...
So sorry to hear of this Trip, you must be hurting terribly. You make a wise comment in your post about hugging your family, for the saddest tears at a funeral are for the words left unsaid and the deeds left undone.
Phyll's right, what a week it has been for CruiseMates and friends. What an awful tragedy Trip, I hope you will be able to support your best friend in her time of need.
I too had a death happen today, a co-worker's father passed away after a long, discouraging battle with cancer - expected, but still hard for her to deal with. All of us from the daycare will be attending the wake tomorrow night to support our friend.
Tonight, I will give my son a real good hug...
Hello Trip, How sad. My sympathies to your friend.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.“
What a terrible thing for a parent to go through & what a hard life the young man must have had. How tragic for anyone's life to end like that. We too are dealing with a death this week. Our neighbour and good friend passed away Wed. morning after a battle with cancer. He was doing really well after going through numerous treatments and surgery and it's just so unfair. He leaves a wife and two teenage sons. We were at the visitation last night and the funeral is this morning. My thoughts are with all those who have lost loved ones.
