Just 1 month to go until the "Cruise Cynic Mystery Cruise" ... January 2008
Loved them all Cynic, especially:
Stompin' Tom and the Hockey Song
Frings at Harveys
Maple Leaf Bacon
Swiss Chalet Festive Special with Toblerone (boy do I miss that one in Que.!)
how 'bout a few more:
Poutine (Que. only)
The Bare Naked Ladies
Loyd Robertson's makeup
Sandy Rinaldo's Bad Hair Year
The Ice Storm
The Littlest Hobo
Sharon Lois & Bram
Bob and Doug McKenzie and the 12 Days of Christmas (Beer!)
Great!! I don't know them all(?Frings,FestiveSpeical..?)-as I am from the West Coast.
We love Stompin' Tom's Cdn.places music CD-took it out from the library this summer-we will have to get it . I know someone who went to his concert this summer and said it was Great!! Also Mr.Dressup is the BEST!(who needed Mr.Rogers??)
Don't forget: BTO and since RD put in some kids performers don' t forget Raffi & Al Simmons-kids performers extraordinaire (altho.Raffi has gone a bit too 'green').
I will try and think of some more old, typical Cdn.things. CC where are you from?
Brenda in Vancouver
NCL Jewel March 14/08(Southern Caribb.)VALOR Jan. 7 /07(Western Caribb. again!)
VALOR Jan/05-our first family cruise was great!
Sorry Brenda, how could I forget Raffi?? Been singing his stuff for MANY years in daycare! Also, since you're from the West Coast, I should've mentioned Charlotte Diamond as well, even some Americans might be familiar with her as she does alot of stuff in Spanish for kids.
BTW, CC is from the Montreal area too, we discovered we grew up in the same area, went to the same school, although several years apart!
I grew up with Mr. Dress-up, Casey and Finnagin. My kids loved him too. Loved it when he went into the Tickle Trunk! My kids still watch Degrassi Reruns. They love the Coffee Crisps, while when I go up north I stock up on Cherry Blossoms. The families favorite chicken is of course, Ste. Hebert, two within an hours drive from here. I go to the Costco in Sherbrooke to buy the sauce, just cuz you've gotta have some when that craving hits.
Of course, there is also the sugar pie and meat pies, that we are lucky enough to get once in awhile when the French Canadian side of the family bakes some up. Poutine is the best, as is the smoked meat sandwiches, you just can't get those in the states.
I better get a shopping list together and head to Quebec.
My step-daughter in Australia (born Canadian) sent these extras when I e-mailed her the original list:
Crown Royal and Coke
Bonhomme de Carvnivale (sp?)
Dodging all the dog poo when the snow starts to thaw in spring
Slush and buses spraying you with the stuff in the winter!
This Hour has 22 Minutes
Being proud of our "hip" PM Pierre Trudeau
Loving the automn leaves change colour

Mr. Dressup & The Friendly Giant - much better than Mr. Rogers
