Default cruising on the Caribbean Princess

My daughter and husband is now cruising on the Caribbean Princess left Fort Lauderdale last Saturday 9/11. I just received an email from her. Since Ivan has changed their itinerary they sailed toward St Thomas. I will quote part of her email she sent.

Quote: The Caribbean Princess got down to St. Thomas but at 9:00 p.m. last night announced that another hurricane was coming out of the S. Antilles and that we were not going to St. Thomas but heading back to Jamaica. We will arrive in Jamaica tomorrow morning. After that, I don't know the schedule. Seems like we have been on the boat forever because we have not stopped anywhere...... We are enjoying the quiet time and taking advantage of seeing the shows, line dancing, hot tub, pool, and, of course, all of the good food. We saw that Hurricane Ivan is heading toward Pensacola and we are keeping an eye on the new hurricane. What a season. Unquote

So it seems they are floating around trying to find land. She sent me another email and here it is:

Quote: We are having fun. Terry hurt his back yesterday and is having trouble moving around. He has not done much yesterday or today! Hope he can dance some, but don't think he will feel well enough. I know you will sympathize....Unquote.

I agree RD....that may us next week....sailing around in circles, BUT it will be ok. We will be together. I have some doubts about this cruise. I feel guilty about cruising & having a good time while so many families are suffering due to these horrible hurricanes. My hubby & I both wish that the cruise could be post poned. We have sent money to the Red Cross. I just wish that there was more that we could do.

Hugs from Pennsylvania to our CM friends down south. Our thoughts & prayers are with all of you.

Pudy

For many a cruise to nowhere would make them happy...I would be sad not to get to a port.. BUT, You can bet that the ship is treating everyone royally..that's the good part

Ray,
Trevor and I will be on the Caribbean Princess next week-leaving Saturday 9/18 so are very interested in what your daughter is experiencing this week! Our group is just interested in getting onboard at this point and then figure out where we're going. One guy going with us seems to think that Jeanne-new hurricane-will be out of our way by the time we go-Eastern Itinerary. We also hear that we'll be going to Jamaica-maybe.
This has been some interesting month! No big rains seen from Ivan yet, so I guess we're out of the woods there. Lynne

A cruise to nowhere for a week would be a wonderful thing. At least for me.

Man! I don't know if my casino allowance would allow so many days at sea. But I would love to try it. As long as the suntan lotion would hold out.<G>

After sailing from Ft. Lauderdale to Jamaica on my first cruise, I was happy to pull into some dry land.We couldn't stop at Princess Cays first because the seas were too rough for the tenders. Even if I didn't go on any excursions,or shop, it's always nice to be on solid ground one time. If we cruise around for 7 days with no stops, it would be OK, although I hope everyone has their video cameras going because we'd all look like drunken sailors trying to get our land legs back!
