I know this is really a stupid answer but here goes.............it depends!

When we go on vacation we don't sacrifice much, and spend what ever we want within limits. We don't buy expensive jewelry, cameras, etc. but if there's a T-shirt, or hat, or pin, for instance then we buy it. We also will take a couple of excursions, but mostly like to walk around or take a cab. We buy the drinks we want, whenever we feel like it. She always gets a massage.

We usually stay under $100 per person per day.

Regards,
Thomas

Well my BF does not drink. But I may have one or 2 foo foo drinks. We more than likely will not got to the casino and I am going to try to per pay for any shore tours. (I hope) I am hopeing to save up about $500 to $600. My hours at work have been cut back and I am trying to budget and spend as little as possible. I have the cruise and airfare and per cruise hotel night paid allready. Now All I have to do is come up with post cruise night and spending money and shour tours. Our cruise is Dec 5th. Only 76 days away. Can it be done?

Yes, most definitely it can be done.

Without drinks, shore excursions, and casino money you should have plenty of money for the other stuff. Remember about tips for porters, cab drivers, room service, etc.

Thomas

when my fiance and i sail we always plan for approx $100/pp per day. that may sound excessive, but we want to have plenty in case we need it. we don't do any big shopping either....just small things if we want. when we plan this way we have more than plenty & typically come home with $$$.

Any onboard expenses, though billed to you shipboard charge chard will have to be paid when you credit card bill arrives. That will be tips ($140 for two for a 7 day cruise), shore excursions, drinks, purchases in the ship's stores.

Actual cash expenditures can be kept to a minimum if you don't gamble, or shop much in ports of call. The pre and post cruise night can add a fair bit to the expense, if you're planning to do more than sit in the hotel. IE meals, taxis etc.

I think Thomas' idea of $100/person/day is a good number to work with, and would probably result in you coming home with money to pay of the shipboard charges.

If you save up $500-600 and the BF does the same, you should be comfortable.

Well big spenders () we have done all our cruises( ok only 4) and spent only 300 to 400 dollars TOTAL on our account. We don't gamble, we don't shop( may be one t shirt, not much anyways) and this last cruise we took no shore ex's with the ship( just taxi'ed and walked to where we wanted to go) . We bought ONE formal photo( I think some go nuts and buy like 20 of them and then take them home, show them around , pick the best one for the mantle and then throw the others into storage, never to be seen again! ) We don't spa, ( I go to a spa before we leave home and get a pedicure, and a few other things done, it is cheaper and better than the ship and it gets you in the cruising mood!)
I got a chocolate banana every afternoon( somethings are too important to mess with , ) hubby always got a couple of beers by the pool, and we had wine with dinner five nightsout of seven.
Spending is a personal thing and everyone knows their own needs best. Once on the ship you do not NEED to pay for anything . You can choose to buy booze, photos, souvenivers, casino chips, and shore exes.
We always leave the tips on the account( it is easier that way) and just have a bit of cash for extra tips on hand.
Have fun and don't worry about spending !

Ps. we also buy the 20 dollar bottle of rum from room service and have a rum and coke on the balcony each evening before dinner, ahh, the good life!

On our last seven day cruise we spent $1500 for 5 of us. This included about $500 in shore excursions, and $350 in tips (plus a nice piece of jewelry from the jewelry store on board!),

we don't do any of the shore excursions. we estimate $100/pp per day for drinks, a little in the casino, maybe a picture or two, a little something from the gift shops and tips for the week. like i said before....we always come home with $$$. you'll be just fine!

You're right - "it depends". Our "tab" when we left from a 7 day (Radiance) was just over $300 - not bad - had the $$ in envelopes all ready to go for tips before we even left, then we spent about $200 on shore/shopping. So we got by pretty good I think.

It's funny, when I sailed with my son in January we spent around $50 per person, per day. On our trip last week with dh on the Glory, we AGAIN spent about $50 per day per person.

Thomas is right - it depends. We drink a reasonable amount, buy soda cards for my dh and son, gamble a little and play bingo a lot! We are on vacation and so like to treat ourselves to whatever we want within reason. I bought a watch on board this time and my son spent his maximum of $20 in the arcade almost every day. We bought t-shirts and other stuff we wanted from onboard and in the ports.
