Default malaria danger?

Is there any danger of getting malaria on any of the side trip tours sponsored by the cruise ships? Has anyone needed to get any shots as a precaution? We will be doing the aerial tram, Costa Rica, Embera Indians tour in Panama and mayan ruins in Belize. I am not getting any shots but would if I needed them. We will take insect repellant along with us.
I would appreciate any advice about this.

I have the Lonly planet guide to Central America and to quote" ...to date there have been NO reports of malaria in Mexico, Guatemala or Belize. The best way to protect yourself is to use a mosquito repelant with Deet as the main ingredient" (page 59 facts for visitors health)

And don't forget to bring the repellent in your carry on if it is an aersol(sp?) can.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), "...malaria risk exists in some parts of Mexico and Central America." Although I don't believe that there's a serious threat to cruisers taking excursions off the beaten path, you might want to check out this link:
