I'm more familiar with Fort Lauderdale than Miami.........in Fort Lauderdale you want to be "downtown"...The Embassy Suites, Amerisuites, Comfort Suites, Marriott Marina, Renaissance, Hyatt Pier 66 are all on or near 17th Avenue very close to the port with plenty of shopping and restaurants around. A short ride across the causeway to the A1A and Fort Lauderdale Beach......much more shopping and eating there. If you want to stay in that area the Sheraton Yankee Trader and Sheraton Yankee Clipper are two of the hotels in that area.

In Miami, check out Bayside......Holiday Inn Bayside, Hyatt, Marriot, Intercontinental.

In Miami the Holiday Inn Port of Miami is nice. Right across from Bayside Market Place. Many fun shops to explore and great restaurants to choose from on the waterfront. Short taxi ride to the ships.
