Default Passenger missing

I just read on AOL news that a 54 year old man was missing from the Carnival Celebration when it docked on Thanksgiving. His wife thinks he fell overboard early that morning!!

That's too bad but it's almost impossible to "fall" overboard.

Take care,
Mike

I just read the story on CNN.com. It says his wife reported him missing several hours after the ship docked..I don't get it. I wouldn't have taken that long to notice my husband was missing. Especially when it was time to debark. It's very sad in any case.

I just saw this news on tv..It seems the husband always gets up early, and she surmised he got up to see the ship sail by a naval base. It always amazes me that people go overboard..you really have to TRY to do this....A sad scenerio for this family, especially at this holiday season.

this also happened on our first cruise, in 1994, on the Fair Princess.during a Mexico cruise. A guy was quite drunk during the Fiesta Party on deck, & disappeared that night!!?? We were late coming in as the authorities were searching the ship for him, but I don't think they found him.

Okay, what happened. <G> This is an elderly man and he was last seen going ondeck at about 1am by his wife. It was windy outside. She noticed him missing at 4am and reported it. A search was done and completed at 11:30am and it was determined that he was not onboard anywhere and must have fallen overboard. While it is very difficult to fall overboard it is not totally impossible for those that are drunk or those that are very old and unsteady or should not be alone. Sad it happened but those are the facts as I have heard them from CCL HQ.

Jim, if 54 is elderly....then I am ancient I saw a picture of him on tv, saw his wife, and younger kids....She said she had last seen him around 1:30 2 o'clock...Very sad indeed

I guess everything is relative. Since Jim got his facts directly from CCL HQ, it makes sense that he would call someone who is 54 "elderly."

So the poor guy is presumed to be a geezer at 54 and presumed to be drunk I guess just because he's on Carnival.

Reporting worthy of the National Enquirer.

Drunk, sober, old, not old, or whatever--- the deck of a ship is made for your feet. If you keep your feet on the deck, your arse can't flop overboard. Pretty simple really.

Jim - if 54 is elderly, then I am approaching ancient! And I agree that it is really hard to go overboard unless you are trying to or are impaired in some manner.

My prayers go out to his family - they will never know what really happened.

Nobody said he was drunk and I did not even iply that he was. The Home Office did not mention an age, that was my presumption from the reports locally, (Jacksonville), that the gentleman was 72 yrs old, apparently that was incorrect. The timeframes are however correct.

Jim..I think where the 72 came in was, a 72 y/o man allegedly jumped off the 10th deck of the Conquest a couple of weeks ago and they did not find him..someone posted this and said their spouse witnessed it. It took 3 hrs to go back and find him, supposedly he had cancer and that was the reason.

John, wonder how our local papers picked that up then? When I read it in the local paper I called a friend in Miami and was told what happened with the timeframes and that they had no idea why he might have gone overboard. Very sad for the family.

Jim,
That is awful, I was on the Conquest November 14th. sail date, a man was pulled out of the water on Thursday when we were in the Grand Caymans. My husband witnessed them pull him up. Lot of rumors, never did find out what really happened.
Have you heard?

Haven't heard a thing in referance to the Conquest. I will ask. Was this at the ship or at the docks or what? Was the poerson crew, passenger, etc and were they alive or deceased?
Jim

Jim..I agree. It is very sad regardless of what the papers wrote or If they got the timeframes mixed up..It really is a tragedy.
