We had a great trip on the Constellation last week Everything was quite excellent with very few exceptions.
Our return was less wonderful however. We stopped on the way home from the airport to see how the new house construction was coming. It was well after dark. I stupidly went bounding into our new house and surprisingly fell into the crawl space through a hole they had cut into the floor for construction purposes.
To make a long story short, we spent several hours in the E.R room at Emmanuel hospital and I have broken my right foot in three places and I broke my upper arm (humerous) on my left arm. I have very limited movement at present and am in a lot of pain.
I'm left handed and will keep my comments brief...
I haven't been able to mail Jessica Bear for her next vacation yet because I can't get out until Thursday morning according to the doctor. Also I need a mailing address because I'm still not sure where she goes this week. Please e-mail me the address so I can express mail her on Thursday. I'm not totally on top of things as one might expect.
I'm very sorry for the inconvenience this accident may cause on Jessica's travel plans.
Chuck, take care and get well soon! I will tell you to follow the doctors and therapists instructions regarding movement and light exercise in your arm - my dad has broken the humerus in both arms (one requiring plate and screws, the other healed naturally) and he has almost full range of motion in both arms and shoulders because he gritted through the early exercises (most of which consisted of taking off the sling, letting the arm dangle down and doing slight circular motions clockwise and counterclockwise - please follow the advice of your ortho MD and the therapists. My Dad has better range and strength in those arms now than he did before the fractures.

Chuck, I am so sorry to hear about your accident. I'm glad you managed to get your cruise in, but how unfortunate to come home and experience that type of injury. I hope and pray that the doctors can keep your pain at a minimum, and that your bones will knit and heal together again quickly.
Hi Chuck, So sorry to hear about your fall and injuries. I do hope that you will be feeling better soon.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.“
Thank you all for the many kind words and encouragement!
I'm feeling a little bit better as each day passes. Having to have my foot way up high and my arm in a sling is a real drag as is attempting to shower and/or climbing stairs.
David and "Knock-Knock" have been very good nurse maids and those doggie hugs and kisses really help. "Knock-Knock" seems to know I'm not feeling well because he is glued to my right side 24 hours a day. He and David are being very patient with my many needs. Our friends and family have been wonderful too!
I feel very fortunate to have so many caring people (and pets) in my life. Thanks all!
