Default Warning, Citizens Bank Customers

Hi CruiseMates, Today in my e-mail I got a very impressive letter from "Citizens Bank" Telling me all about its online bill paying system. The letter was very impressive, complete with logos and links. Of course this letter made it very easy to set up my account. Beware of this.!!! I called Citizens and they said they have sent out NO letters nor do they request we set up online and enter our information. If you get this letter in your email please delete it!

I've received such emails from "Citibank" which turned out to be bogus as well. They gave me a link to click on, where certain personal/credit card info would be requested. They looked legitimate, with the Citibank logo and all. But a quick call to the real Citibank security department proved that they weren't legit at all. I've also received a similar email from another bank where I didn't have an account at all. It looks like they send these messages randomly, so be wary of any such email you might receive. It's probably fraudulent.

One of my clients here works for Citibank, in the fraud division, and does nothing but follow up those fraudulent e-mails all day long. It's a full time job, and it's sad that it is necessary.

Thanks for the warning. I've been receiving these types of emails regularly...they appear to be from my mortagage company and various credit card companies. Of course, they are immediately deleted from my computer, but I cannot help but wonder how many people are taken in by these frauds. Please be careful.

got one from sun bank in florida and what made it so interesting was that my folks lived in florida and could have banked there--called my sister and she thought she had closed out the accounts so i called the bank and they referred me to their web site that had a whole section of this fraud--the following nite there was a news item on tv about this very thing---in looking back the email address that the fake message was sent to was one that i was not using at the time my folks lived in fla
