Default computer virus

As of today after my son looked at my computer I had 11 viruse on my computer, he said most were probably from email from people with attachments on them. As of today no more opening emails with jokes, attachments etc.

Anyone else been bitten by ta computer virus?

Everyone should have quality anti-virus protection on their computers, and load updates OFTEN.

Mary Margaret:
Millions of computer users, worldwide, have been hit by a virus. You can be hit by a virus, worms, spyware, malware and many other maladies. Then again you can be hit by a bus walking across the street.

In todays world of computers you need to have a virus and spyware protection program and keep it / them updated. If not regularly, like every other day, updated they are worthless. If you want to enjoy your computer you need to do it, otherwise you may as well turn it off.

Attachments are no longer the only place where viruses live. They can live in HTML code within emails or certain types of viruses can be contracted by just surfing The Web.

Take care and cheer up. The viruses couldn't have been too bad or you wouldn't have been able to make that post.

I have learned alot lately about computer viruses. And you are right Mike the virus was not so bad that I could not post. But, that is the scary part to me, the way you can have a virus and not even know it , and I do have virus protection, but its almost impossible to keep up with the new ones. And I also learned about spyware, which is impossible to keep off of your computer if you surf the net.

Ugh but I am good now, at least today until the next virus. Nothing will keep me from surfing on the net. But as I said before no more attachment opening for me! My son is a Computer engineer and he said almost all attachments are infected some way or another and he said to NEVER OPEN THEN. Besides I find the jokes , etc, annoying, what I do enjoy are just regular emails with messages from friends.

Mary Margaret, there are some real good spyware blockers and anti-virus software available for free on the internet. I use Adaware, AVG and Zone Alarm - all free and I have them set up to run around 3 am every night.
