Since it is New Year's Eve, I thought it was about time for an update on my progress after the great fall into the crawl space of my new home which is under construction...
My broken left arm is healing nicely and is now out of the sling. I can use it a little bit now and am doing regular physical therapy exercises to restore range of motion.
My broken right foot is healing nicely since the surgery but all of the pins and exterior scaffolding are still in place. It'll be a about two to four more weeks of living with this "erector set" in and on top of my foot. The pain has reduced greatly and I am totally off of pain pills except sometimes I take a couple Advil before bedtime. It is nice to think more clearly now, sans drugs.
I'm getting better at navigating, using only one crutch, and can hobble most anywhere I want or need to be. Yes!
David, "Knock-Knock" and our cockateil "Mijo," continue to be the best of care givers and their encouragement and devotion has been unending.
Our new house is in the final month of completion. The fun stuff like hardwood floors, light fixtures, appliances, cabinets, countertops, etc. are just about ready to go in. The house is looking amazingly beautiful despite my negative encounter through the subfloor in late November. We cannot wait to unpack the things that are all in storage while we live in the "litterbox." (our rental duplex)
David, Knock-Knock, Mijo and I would like to thank you all for your kind thoughts during this ordeal and we wish every Cruisemate many happy voyages throughout the new year!
Chuck, it's great to hear from you, and that you are recovering nicely. Aren't caregivers the best? Whether it's a spouse, a friend or even a pet, they make all the difference in the world! Thank goodness you had David, Knock Knock and Mijo to look after you.
I'll bet you're looking forward to the New Year and moving in the new digs. (I hope they covered over that hole you made in the floor!)
