flu

has the nasty influenza bug hit anyone yet? Our family has been bitten twice. First on Christmas : my daughter (she has the worst timing with flus, she was sick on the day her class had a trip, when we went to Disney World and now Christmas) and tonight my dh came home with the flu. He's been in bed all night . Poor dear!!! Hope i'm not next!!!

Just curious, did any of you get a flu shot? Hubby & I stood in line for about an hour to get ours....

yes, my hubby got the flu shot Nov 4 and has been feeling great til yesterday and started with strong stomach cramps getting worse also vomiting and muscle aches and fever. He thought at first it was food pisoning but after we realized we all ate the same thing and he was the only one sick; it had to be the flu. My daughter did not have the shot. He thought it was food poisoning because it came on so quick. He's been taking a multi vitamin and drinking plenty of water but still got sick.

I don't think the "flu" shot helps with intestinal flu. I think that's a whole different type of virus. hope your husband and family gets feeling better soon. if it's any consolation our family has had this sinus infection "crap" (for lack of a better word) for over 2 months now.--hubby having the worst of it--he's finally got an appt. with an ENT today so hopefully we'll get this thing under control.--
I think the "flu" shot is for the upper respiratory kind of flu--(JMO)

karessamom is right, the flu shot is for a specific type of respiratory flu, like a bad cold with aches, pain and fever. Gastro is the other stomach-flu bug, and we've had that one, thank you very much! I had a flu shot in Nov. and so far...so good!

My whole family had had it. My daughter started it the week before Christmas, then my husband, then my step-daughter, my son and I just ended it this week.

Both my DH and I caught it in early December, and we've both had flu shots.
