Has anyone had problems with southwest airlines or other airlines. We are sailing on the Mariner on Apr. 17. and we are flying out that morming. After the holiday fiasco, we dont want to get caught up in something not of our doing
Guess what? I've had problems with Southwest Airlines and with every other airline I've ever flown with any regularity. You're wasting time by trying to pick an airline based upon this issue. From time to time every airline has flight irregularities of one sort or another. If you can't arrange to fly the day before your cruise, just pick the earliest flight you can get consistent with a decent price and cross your fingers.
I have never flown Southwest Airlines but I have flown Jet Blue and Delta Song may times each. I've had occassional problems with Delta but never on Jet Blue. If they service your area, I would definitely check them out. Direct TV, free snack food, low prices and friendly flight attendants.
I have flown with Southwest quite a few times now when coming over to Phoenix to visit friends etc. We have used SW to go to San Diego, Vegas a couple of times each now and think for the price, that they are great.
The attendants are very friendly - the first time we travelled with them, because we were from England, we had free cocktails during the flight and the attendants sang to us.
That would be unheard of over here so we thoroughly enjoyed it.
What was the problem over the holidays, did they run out of planes????? or was it weather related.
I used Southwest many times and rarely have had a problem. The only times I did it was weather related and nothing they could do about it.

Best advice we can offer: FLY TO YOUR PORT CITY THE DAY
BEFORE YOUR CRUISE !!!!
Even if you were to buy the cruise line's own " air & transfer ".
It's called PIECE OF MIND..
1/ you minimize the effects of highly probable flight delays on your
state of mind, knowing that,at the end of the day, you'll still have a
good night sleep, wake up fresh, no worries, in the port city you need
to be in, and...........
2/ You can checkin as early as possible. You pay the money, max out your stay !!!
There's a LOT to be said about getting thru the formalities and embark on
board ahead of the masses.
Hi, we just got back from our Panama Canal Cruise and flew Southwest from Philadelphia to Fort Lauderdale the day before because this time of year you never know what could happen with the weather. Had a slight 1/2 delay going out but that was because they had snow where they were coming from. Coming home from FLL no problem at all. It was wonderful going the day before there was no fear that anything could go wrong on sailing day.
I've always had very good luck with Southwest and they have a very good on time record, but there are exceptions everywhere. Like a previous post said.. Jetblue has a very good on time record as well. The FAA has on their site by each flight how often it's on time. I was booking a flight for a cruise in April and the cheapest flight was on Song but when I looked at the on time rating, it was only on time 17% of the time. Not something I was willing to gamble on I ended up on Jetblue with that flight having a 98% on time. Good luck!
