I've enjoyed it in the past, and will probably watch again. I just really don't like watching all the terrible tryouts even though I know some people enjoy them. This time I'll wait til they get down to the final 10 or so before I tune in.

Interesting thing about Idol ... large audiences watch.. not many buy the CDs the finalists put out.

That was not the case with the Canadian Idol this past year. His album outsold any Canadian artist to date.

I think I can explain the discrepancy between CD sales and viewers. By its nature, Idol favors ballad singers, who do not sell these days. Although my 16 yo stepdaughter is a devoted Idol fan, she would not be caught dead with a winner's CD, so I assume others in her demographic feel the same way. They are the ones who buy all the CDs.

I'll be watching although with a skeptical eye after some of the voting games played last year.

I must say few of the idols have had much staying power.

I did catch a bit of it tonight, and what I saw (or should I say, heard) scared me. I don't think I'll be watching any more. I'll wait till Canadian Idol starts. And I will admit to having bought the latest Canadian Idol's CD!

I never watched it before, but I'm watching it right now. It's painful to listen to some of these people! I hope it gets better as it goes along, but I'm bound and determined to give it a shot!

And, by the way, I bought Clay Aikens' Christmas CD! And I didn't even watch the show!

My DW started watching it. She relates it to watching a car crash. She just wanted to see what happened. I watched an exciting college basketball game (Florida St. upset #3 Wake Forest).

I ususally have it on, but sometimes it doesn't grab my attention. I always seem to have so much to do that I can't devote 100%.

Some really terrible people tried out on last nights show.

I'm a big fan of American Idol. I have to wonder though if the title doesn't actually hurt the winner at times? And I will admit it.....I own Kelly Clarkson's first CD as well as Clay Aiken's first release. I loved Fantasia's voice and will probably own her CD at some point. Some of last night's auditions were just horific! I couldn't stand to be a judge!

I am watching. Love the first few shows best. what makes some people think they can sing? I hope to be cruising in March. Have a wonderful time.
