Good Morning Cruisemates!! It is saturday and the temp here in NH's Lakes Region remains at 0. I cannot believe this cold spell we are having. where is the "January thaw"? I did not get the job at Spaulding Youth Center that I applied for so I sent my resume in for another one there. I spent half the night rewriting and updating my resume. I also created another resume for another line of work that I like, cooking. I have been sending both resumes to prospective employers. I am determined to get a job. I want to do the Cruisemates group on the Glory!!! Sue, a happy birthday to your dad from me. Have a great day all.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.“
Sue, you are certainly up early!
Cruisenut2, best of luck with the job search - cruising is a great incentive!
I know what you mean about the frigid temps; it's still -14 here in Montreal, but we are supposed to get a high of -4 today, which will feel positively balmy compared to what we've been experiencing!
I did not sleep well last night, kept waiting for the phone to ring from the Residence. My mom is fading fast, and it was a difficult day for all of us yesterday. She is detaching herself from our world slowly but surely. I know it won't be long now, but I know I have all of your support and caring to get me through. Thanks.
Hello to the early risers, Sue, CruzNut and Donna!
CruzNut good luck with the job search! When I took early retirement, I looked for various jobs where I could make a little money but do some good, Catholic Charities, Women's Shelter, but ended up going with Manpower. Down the road, I still might do one of those.
Donna, my heart goes out to you! Hang in there best you can and we're with you. I think all of us have had some experience in our lives where we can relate. Write back often!
I think I'll go into work while today, we are so swamped. In Dec. they sent us home early, now we are buried in studies. Lots of data entry, I worked late every night this week.
Tomorrow I may climb on the bus to the casino. Comes to the Comfort Inn across the street 7 days a week so I think I'll finally take it to Milwaukee!
For me it's on to work at the restaurant. A cook of mine has been gone for a week with a family emergency and I'm filling in for him. With SuperBowl week going on, and ads running full time, and parties going on everywhere, it's not a good time to be understaffed.
Good morning from WI. It's in the 20's this morning with no wind and actually feels really nice.
Donna, my heart goes out to you too. Remember the staff where your mom is, are there for you too, and we are also. ((((((((((HUGS)))))))))) for you.
Sue, I'm sure your dad was happy that you called yesterday. Just keep reminding him that you will be there to see him soon.
Jen-I'll be praying for you as you have your surgery. Hope you can rest up a little this weekend.
Susie-for someone who retired, you sure are working hard.:-) I hope you get to go on the cruise of your life time soon. It seems we either have the money to cruise and no time or the time to cruise and no money.
Thomas, don't work too hard. What's your specialty when you are the chef? I sure could go for a delicious dish of fried scallops.
CN2-good luck with your job search. I'm sorry to hear you didn't get the one you wanted.
Renee, it's nice to see you posting. Enjoy the warmth down there in Texas and have fun shopping.
Today is laundry day for me, then a nice dinner out with Jake tonight.
Bon Voyage to all the Jewel cruisers. I sure wish I was sailing with them.
Donna, I know how hard it must be for you to watch her leave so slowly. You've been a great daughter, from what I can determine and I know she feels lucky to have you in her corner.
Thomas, you big baby, you just came BACK from a cruise!
Never enough though, is it? I start feeling that way walking off the ship....

It's now about 3:40PM.Temp is 72 degrees!!!!!!!! Great for our cruisers who've come down for their getaway this weekend. I hope the waters are smooth for them. We have a stiff breeze at the moment.
This morning I went to work and sang a duet with my pastor who did the chapel service. He's in rotation with several other speakers.Today it was mostly him singing, with a brief message slipped in at one point.
Trevor picked me up around 10AM and we headed up to Lake Wales, about 45 minutes from here for our grandson's 4th birthday. We hadn't seen him or the family since October so it was astonishing to see how he's grown in the last few months. He's actually talking more clearly now, and is turning from a baby into a regular boy. Of course, our granddaughter,Katie, is much taller. She turned 13 in September and is model material like her mom. (my step-daughter). Gorgeous!! It was a nice get-together with all the Grandmas and Grandpas, and other relatives and friends. This is about the only time we see one another. We brought the Christmas presents the kids bought us home with us in the car today-the holidays were too hectic for either of us to make the trip to the other house to exchange gifts!
On the way home Trevor stopped at the used car lot where he thought he spotted a car for me to replace our 11 year old Buick.By the time we left, we were looking at another one , 2004 Grand AM, in mint condition. We always seem to step ourself up into the next price range. Trevor's sleeping on it-and will look up some more information on the Internet before deciding what to do. For one thing, this Buick needs to be traded in for a decent price-that will be a definite deciding factor.
Meanwhile, we'll do some more research on the Star Princess tonight, too!!
Best wishes go to all of you who are experiencing trying times this weekend. We're all here for you!! Lynne
