Default La Guaira

Any information on this port...???? We have heard some "not so good things " about it. Some even say that although it shows on our Princess Itinerary, that most likely will not stop there.

Any thoughts?

Our cruise stopped there a few years ago and we got off the ship walked the length of the pier and went no furture. Very scary things going on, their army with machine guns and people coming back from a tour warned us not to venture past the pier. So we checked out the vendors right there and went back on board. Better to be safe than sorry.

You MUST NOT go out on your own at La Guaira! There is nothing there, first of all, and it is dangerous! You MUST take a ship's tour to Caracas (about an hour away) to see anything. It has been several years since I was there, but I really enjoyed seeing the city, doing some shopping, having a nice catered luncheon and going to a little German village. But, please, please go on a ship's tour!

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES MUST YOU GO OFF THE SHIP Y OURSELF... TAKE A SHIPS TOUR... Caracas used to be a beautiful city and is having major politica problems Your $$ will go far.. If they take you to the Morano glass shop go ahead, I wouldn't bother with the German Village, heard it was not as nice as it used to be. We enjoyed visiting the home of Simon Boiver...the George Washignton of South American.. There is also a jewelers building that used to have wonderful bargains.also leather is a great buy
