while I am sure this is mostly an American based website, I know there are some Canadians enjoying it. That being said, my dh just gave me the sad news that one of our lesser expensive airlines has gone bankrupt. I first thought of how many countless people would be affected by this (in that they would have to find alternate plans for flight or cancel their vacations altogether), then I thought about the massive amounts of people affected by loss of their jobs. Then it dawned on me...people who were using jetsgo for flights meeting cruises. Is anyone willing to share their stories with us about their situation? It would be very interesting to hear.
A minute after above posting, a friend of mine called me to say that he had two tickets to bring his daughter to Vancouver for a gymnastic meet. They will lose their $1200.00 and a will have a sad little girl. A lot of spring break students will have to find alternate return fares at a much greater expense.
Not good news. The repercussions are starting to filter in.
If the ticket was purchased in British Columbia, he can get his money back. British Columbia and Quebec have consumer protection laws in place for this type of occurance, with a fund to pay the losses.
That is just what I have been thinking about since they went bankrupt. I stick to Air Canada, but I'm sure West Jet is fine. My cousin flies for them. This will actualy be good news for West Jet. This is when it is important to read the small print, as in, if the cruise line arranged the flight, are they responsible for finding other means if they used Jets Go?
I wish the very best for everyone concerned. Sad business.
Take care all,
