This will be our 5th cruise, but its the only Celebrity cruise. I understand its different then Royal Caribbean and Carnival. Can anyone explain why?

Thanks

I haven't sailed on the Horizon, but the two Celebrity cruises I've been on were my FAVORITE cruises of all. I love the whole Celebrity experience. Haven't been on Royal Caribbean but you'll find that the experience is a little more refined and sophisticated than Carnival. Don't get me wrong, it's still fun, but there's a touch more elegance. And the food is out of this world!

You are in for a treat!

Cheers,
Michelle P.

I haven't sailed Celebrity's smaller ships (Horizon or Zenith), but had an internet friend just return, and they said the ship was wonderful... and lived up to Celebs excellent standard of food and service.

friends of mine and i did bermuda aboard zenith (similar ship to horizion) a couple of years ago. these are smaller and older ships than others in the fleet, and the zenith was definitely showing its age. however, the food was just wonderful, the poolside entertainment was super, and the overall service could not have been better. so, overlook the 'wrinkles' and enjoy.

My first (excellent) Celebrity experince was a 10 day on Horizon. I have also done the sister ship , Zenith as well as three other Celebrity cruises. Dining room food and service is excellent, steward service is as well. Service and attention around the ship are all of Celebritiy's high standards. No soaring lobbies and no 22 bars and clubs on Horizon. 5 or six very nice entertainment venues, a nice compact little shopping area and a nice (small) Casino. Most public spaces do double duty by day and night.
Pool area has some nice shaded space on the lower level and plenty of "nearby space on the deck above. A nice series of quiet decks at the stern make for more restfull reading and sunning if that is what you like.
A very nice example of Celebrity . Hope it stays this way through Horizons transfer later this Fall to another cruise line owned by RCCL.

We tried Celebrity for the first time when the Galaxy ported out of Baltimore. Because of the wonderful experience we had (ie. great food, service, fellow cruisers abord ship) we booked another Celebrity cruise, this time on the Infinity and still had the same wonderful experience. Celebrity, above everything else, is known for their great food. You will have a wonderful time on your cruise, especially if you go into it with a positive attitude!

I love Celebrity mainly because of it's consistent high quality of service and attention to detail. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. I just wish they were going to have more ships in the Caribbean next year.

People go on cruises looking for different things. This line just seems to always give us exactly what we are looking for. We've been happy with RCI and Princess too, but there are little differences that make Celebrity our favorite.

Dear Phyllbo,
I agree that Celebrity is number one for the average priced cruise line. This year we are trying Holland America's Maasdam because the ship departs in Norfolk, which is close to home. Had Celebrity had this itinerary to Canada@New England right from Norfolk, we would have booked with Celebrity.

I would love to try Celebrity some time. Would like to find a 4-day cruise up the California coast . . . if I ever win the lottery!

I have only cruised RCL and Celebrity and I prefer Celebrity.

Celebrity has the ambiance I like. No announcements, wonderful and consistent food, especially the dining room, very attentive service. Decor is subdued, all the niceties are there. All the passengers are also very courteous towards their fellow cabin mates. I take notice of that.

I have been on the Horizon, Summit, Constellation and Millenium, (Century booked for 2006 and Infinity booked for 2006) .

I do prefer the Summit, Constellation and the Millenium. The Horizon was nice, but it needs a facelift and was a little too bland in furnishings, but the service and food was a 10. Keep in mind I had just come off RCL's Brilliance of the Seas then went on the Horizon, so I was a little dissapointed.

But if you want to go to Bermuda, Celebrity is the ship to do on. Great itinerary.

This did not stop me from trying Celebrity again as you can see above, I love Celebrity.

Now for RCL, been on the Explorer of the Seas twice and the Brilliance and Majesty. I prefer the Radiance class which is the Brilliance. Wonderful ship, food not quite a 10, but the ships is a beauty. I'm booked on the Jewel on a back to back and am looking forward to it. I am going on the Voyager on a repo cruise, couldn't pass the great price.

So for the future, RCL's Radiance class and Celebrity's Millenium class are my favorites.

We cruised on the Zenith out of Jacksonville in Dec.'03 (14 days, W. Carib.), and loved just about everything about that ship. The only complaint we had related, surprisingly, to some of the dinners in the dining room. Overall, however, we enjoyed a great cruise on a friendly ship. Celebrity is a terrific cruise line, MM, and I'm sure you'll have a good experience on the Horizon.

Re: Just booked Celebrity Horizon..anyone sailed Celebrity?

Think the above reports were well explained. Have been on the Horizon twice and the Zenith once, and found both ships easy to get around on. Food super on both. Horizon is showing its age somewhat as we were aboard her last May for a cruise from Tampa to Norfolk.. Really hate to see the smaller older ships go, but they are disappearing....
