What would your comfort meal be, if you knew you were eating your last meal? For me it would be:
center cut pork roast, with cripsy bones
mashed potatoes, with gravy, peas on top
my home made cole slaw, [to die for] <vbg>
a pot of tea....
creme brule and key lime pie
While I am eating all the above, I would have book in my hand

If it were my last meal (and we never know when that might be) I would like;
Fried chicken breast like my Mom used to make
Mashed potatoes with gravy
Fresh Corn on the cob
Sliced Tomtatoes (home grown not hot house tomatoes)
Hot homemade biscuits (I'd put a slice of tomato in the buttered biscuit)
Dessert; Strawberry Shortcake
This is making my mouth water as I type. This is not a good way to stay on a diet.
I would have Texas barbecue... slow-smoked brisket, a chopped beef sandwich, homemade Hill Country sausage, and maybe even a rib or two. The only things I'd want on the side would be a piece of good garlic bread and some of my dad's homemade pickles.
For dessert a slice of my grandmom's chocolate pie. Yum.
Mashed potatoes, baked ham, peas(fresh or frozen). Homemade bread pudding with real whipped cream. Coffee.

This recipe has been prepared by generations of woman in my family, It's so simple, and everywhere I have taken it, people have loved it. I hope you do too.
cabbage, chopped to a medium chop, not savoy, and no outer leaves
grate an onion ,and a carrot
Mix in HELLMANS, mayo, repeat only HELLMANS
salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste
refrigerate for a while to let the flavors meld.
I don't like this the day after..I make fresh enjoy!

Thomas, you're mind works in a strange and mysterious way. Thanks for the laugh.
That roast pork or fried chicken sound real good to me. You guys are making me hungry. I'd also like a nice char broiled NY strip steak, baked potato w/sour cream, asparagus tips and creme brulete(sp?) garnished with raspberries for desert.
I would start off with a bottle of Alpine beer, brewed in New Brunswick, Canada.
Fresh Atlantic Salmon steak. (no offence to the people from BC) But, Atlantic salmon is much better than Pacific Coast. I`d want a big New Brunswick russet baked potatoe with melting butter and sour cream. Wouldn`t have to worry about my cholesterol level, hell, I`d even throw my pills in the ocean and let the sharks have it.
Another Alpine beer..
Dessert: Fresh rhubarb (1st crop of the year when it`s the most tangy) pie served warm with a bit of vanilla ice cream .
Then I`d nestle up with a bottle of GRAND MARNIER and wouldn`t have to worry about the forthcoming massive headache.
This is a very hard question - as I love so many dishes
I guess I would want a buffet with all my favorites on it
Prime Rib - very rare
Roast Pork - with lots of herbs making a savory crust
Turkey - just like on Thankgsgiving
Mashed Potatoes made with cream, butter and roasted garlic, lots of salt, and a little pepper
Garden Fresh Tomatoes with salt
My mother's homade rolls, with plenty of butter on them
Good old Fashoined Apple Pie
Maple Cheese Cake with Whipped Cream
A succulent pear, with it's juice dripping down my chin
Beverage - Nantucket Nectars - Red Plum - it is divine
And to feel no indigestion after no matter how much I consumed
Now I'm famished and there is nothing in the house that can even come close to anything on my list.
Mmmm...first I would have to start off with my homemade sausage gravy and biscuits, my DH's barbecued ribs, fresh corn on the cob smothered in salt and butter, mashed potatos and all you can drink champagne! BRING IT ON ANYWAY!!!
Costa Atlantica 3/2004
For my last meal...it would have to be Fried Catfish fillets, hush puppies with jalepeno peppers in them, cole slaw, fried chicken wings(hot)from the Dodge store, and a Fried Elephant Ear sandwich....for dessert..my DW banana pudding and a slice of Moms pecan pie.....this should last a while because they always have the elephant ears but they have a real hard time finding those great big buns to put them on..should buy me some time.
Pork Roll and Cheese Sandwich
A Pat's Cheesesteak (no substitute please, Philly Folks will understand)
Second Avenue Deli Pastrami on Rye (no substitute please, New Yorkers will understand)
A Jar of Classen Dill Pickles
Lime Diet Coke
Juniors Cheesecake (no substitute please, New Yorkers will understand)
(Come to think of it, all of the above at one sitting would kill me anyway)
A note for those reading Trips recipe: Best Foods Mayo is the same as Hellmans for those of you west of the Missisippi

Hellman's is west of the Mississippi too Doug...(only us southerners would understand)!!! BTW: I UNDERSTAND about the Phillie cheesesteak...they are not the same anywhere else..Yummmmmmm..making me hungry
I want my last meal to be at Doe's..... the original in Greenville, MS. Then down to N.O. for K-Paul's bread pudding with Bourbon sauce..... guess I need a private jet. Big John, you must be from AR..... my hubby wants fried catfish and hushpuppies for his last meal, too.
BW..hushpuppies are round(just a little bigger than a quarter) bits of cornmeal mixed with egg and milk like cornbread..you can add chopped onions and japaleno peppers or just about anything you want..then they are deep fried to a golden brown. YummYumm..great with a little ketchup or butter on them. Some people will substitute the milk with beer..those are wonderful also.
