Why would anyone want to do that? What a waste of time.

I think that is really cool. I'll be showing it to my son. When he was in 6th grade he took his Conne'x and build a model of the Titanic (from imagination, not instructions). It was a remarkable feat, mom wasn't so pleased when he invited a few friends over and the decided to re-enact the iceberg incident and the smashed it, in the swimming pool. Those little piece collecting in the filter, main drain. Though the did manage to salvage most of them.

It must have taken a remarkable amount of time, but when you consider how much time people watch TV or spend doing other mindless things, I consider it time well spent.

Actually Lego employees people to build things like this. I have no idea if this was created by Lego employeee or not but there are people that they employee and that is their only job. With the way that my oldest son would create masterpieces with his Legos at one time I could have sworn that when he grew up that this would be his career path.
