Carnival to Return to Europe in 2006
Carnival Cruise Lines has already decided it will return the Carnival Liberty to Europe in summer 2006. The Liberty is offering the line's first-ever cruises in Europe this summer, upon its delivery in July. Carnival said demand for those Mediterranean cruises was so strong, it decided to return with a full season next year. In 2006, the Liberty will operate 15 12-day cruises roundtrip from Civitavecchia ( Rome) from May 7 to Oct. 22. Ports of call include Naples, Dubrovnik, Venice (for two nights), Messina, Barcelona, Cannes and Livorno. Prior to and following that program, the ship will operate a 14- and 16-day transatlantic cruise to and from Ft.Lauderdale, where it will winter. Carnival will begin accepting reservations for the 2006 Med cruises on May 25.

Hmmm...............I wonder if we can stow away on our January trip long enough to make it to Europe.

I wonder how many North Americans vs Europeans have been booking the ship?. I don't want to be in such a minority as I have been in the past on Costa ships.
It would be interesting to know the stats on bookings.

CCL is expecting a pretty large contingent of American cruisers for this ship. They have Costa over there mainly for the Europeans and HAL and Princess can easily take up the European slack. They have received such great bookings for the L:iberty that they decieded to try it again next year and see how it goes. This has been in the works for awhile now and originally they talked about the Glory but recently decieded that the Liberty name would be better associated with the Med as she is going to be there this fall and looking for repeat passengers as well as those this year passing the information on about what a wonderful cruise it is.

I am so glad to hear this. We have been trying to get an answer from Carnival. We tried to book the Liberty in Jan for a particular week in July (because of the kids work and college schedules). It was already booked and we were sick about it. I think we need to go ahead and book for next summer. We just went ahead and booked a Caribbean cruise since the girls wanted to cruise so badly. But we are all ready for another trip to Europe. This cruise sounded wonderful. Go over early, cruise, stay late! Glad to hear this news. We'll start talking about it now.
