DEER CROSSING

I live in a semi-rural area. We recently had a new neighbor call the
local township administrative office to request the removal of the Deer
Crossing sign on our road. The reason: "too many deer were being hit by
cars" and he didn't want them to cross there anymore. This one was from
Kingman, KS.

---

IDIOTS IN FOOD SERVICE:

My daughter went to a local Taco Bell and ordered a taco. She asked the
person behind the counter for "minimal lettuce." He said he was sorry,
but they only had iceberg. And he was a Kansas City chef!

---

IDIOT SIGHTING:

I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee
asked, "Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?
To which I replied, "If it was without my knowledge, how would I know?
He smiled knowingly and nodded, "That's why we ask." This happened in
Brimingham, Ala.

---

IDIOT SIGHTING:

The stoplight on the corner buzzes when it's safe to cross the street.
I was crossing with an intellectually challenged co-worker of mine when
she asked if I knew what the buzzer was for. I explained that it signals
blind people when the light is red. Appalled, she responded, "What on
earth are blind people doing driving?!" She was a probation officer in
Wichita, KS

---

IDIOT SIGHTING:

At a good-bye luncheon for an old and dear coworker who was leaving the
company due to "downsizing," our manager commented cheerfully, this is
fun. We should do this more often." Not a word was spoken. We all just
looked at each other with that deer-in-the-headlights stare. This was a
bunch at Texas Instruments.

---

IDIOT SIGHTING:

I work with an individual who plugged her power strip back into itself
and for the life of her couldn't understand why her system would not
turn on. A deputy with the Dallas County Sheriff's office no less.

---

IDIOT SIGHTING:

When my husband and I arrived at an automobile dealership to pick up
our car, we were told the keys had been locked in it. We went to the
service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the
driver's side door. As I watched from the passenger side, I
instinctively tried the door handle and discovered that it was unlocked.
"Hey," I announced to the technician, "it's open!" To which he replied,
"I know -- I already got that side."

This was at the Ford dealership in Canton, Mississippi!

I think I might know a couple of them myself. However, I wasn't aware that any of my relatives were living in those cities. <BG>

That's it, I am not going to Kansas or Alabama again! Life is just one big comedy show, and police officers hav a front row seat which is why that was my chosen possession.

Cheryl, I can relate to that for sure. I worked for 7 years in a deli in a Hannaford Supermarket. I think I have probably heard it all.

The interesting thing is that all of us at some time in our lives and in different situations, have been or will be; "One of those people."

Sorry folks, but I think every one of us has been guilty of putting foot A in mouth B.

I know it's true when I've helped very intelligent people with simple computer problems. <VBG>

Take care,
Mike

Donna,
It was by no means directed at you. You have learned well and exceeded my artistic capability. Even though I know a couple of things about a computers and some electronics there are situations, even in our profession and especially in everyday life, our brain takes a vacation.

In my early days I couldn't figure out why a network monitor was not working correctly. I was angry and blaming the machine and not thinking that "Super Tech" could have messed up. A lowly computer operator walked over looked at the back of the unit and noticed I didn't have the monitor cable plugged into the line. This was equal to a regular person not having the monitor plugged into the computer. She plugged it in and it instantly worked.

Anyone who says they haven't had a moment like that is either lying or should be worshiped.

BTW: I married the computer operator.

Take care,
Mike

The real classic one over here and sorry folks it was from an American was the one about the American tourist who visited Windsor castle which is very, very close to Heathrow Airport so suffers from low flying aircraft constantly.

This yank pepped up to one of the Castle Guards, "lovely Castle you have but it is such a shame that it had to be built so close to the Airport"

Absolute classic............................

KG

........................................ and as to my very own personal faux pas was when I went over to Northern France and everybody was talking about the 'pillboxes'. I thought they meant those little trinkets that people used to keep their tablets in - woe betide me on that one..........
