My deepest sympathy goes out to this girl's family and friends. I am not really surprised by the outcome but I had a small amount of hope that they would find her alive. All we can do now is pray for justice.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.“
So sad. I saw a little bit of a report on the Today show. It showed her hotel. It was the same hotel we stayed in when we went to Aruba in 2000, the Holiday Sunspree. It was bittersweet to watch because we had such a happy time there and made so many good memories. The locals were wonderful to us, going out of their way for us. Watching the news clips of places they searched and recognizing some of them was sad as well.
When my husband's cousin was murdered by her estranged husband (he kidnapped her from work - a nursing home) we didn't know where she was for over 24 hours, it was the longest day of all of our lives. I sat glued to my scanner. No one slept. I was the first to hear them call for a Medical Examiner, so I knew. Then I called my in-laws and they went to his brother's house to sit with them so they wouldn't be alone when the police came to give them the news. We only had to wait a little over a day. I just don't know how people stand it when they have to wait longer. My prayers are going out to them.
This is a tragedy! I still think these guys took advantage of a gullable gal and won her confidence to the point where her willingness to go with them (or him) was stronger than her common sense and need to stay with the group. The ones who let her go in the car will be carrying a lot of guilt for a long time or the rest of their lives.
The family at some closure, at least, although it wasn't the outcome they were praying for. Too sad! Lynne
Well......it certainly seems as though this story won't have a happy ending, but the story is apparently "unconfirmed", so like Thomas, I still hold out hope she's found alive.

What a horrible, horrible tragedy. My thoughts and prayers go out the family.
A co-worker shared with me Friday that the Natalee is the neice of close friends of her parents. They have kept up hope, now it seems that it was fruitless. This family will need all the support they can find and I hope they have a strong circle of friends around them.
