I have been driving long enough to remember gas at $0.35/gallon, I drove a VW rabbit and went about 10 mi rt betweenhome and work. A fill up was about $3 every 10 - 14 days. Of course that was about 1970ish and my pay was about $6000/year. Hamburger and blade lamb chops were $0.59/lb and whole chicken was $0.29/lb.
