I've got my Tampa Bay Lightning(Bolts) Hat and Shirt all ready to go--Stanley Cup Champions. I wore them on our cruise last year, and I wear the hat often. Coming originally from Montreal Canada, I started watching hockey as a young girl. I attended a game in college -Minnesota North Stars and another team. I must admit that I didn't follow the game on a regular basis until the Bolts got into it. It got exciting!! Lynne

Oh, Donna! As much as I love you, The Cup belongs in Detroit! LeHabs have a great tradition of hockey greatness, but, come on, Hockeytown is the Motor City!

I, for one, cannot wait until the season begins! It was a long, miserable winter this past year, but I never removed my gold Red Wings pendant from around my neck in hopes this would happen.

Ted Lindsay, Red Wing great, was in my restaurant last week and we discussed the new season - he's a fine gentleman with a darling wife and he gave an autographed 8x10 signed picture to me and one to my Chef.

GO RED WINGS!

I doubt either Detroit or Tampa Bay will be able to keep their high-priced help, and if they do, they aint gonna be happy. Detroit has to ditch 60 million in salary. Ditto the Rangers. This is not gonna be pretty. Teams in Nashville and Charlotte will probably fold soon due to fan backlash/disinterest, and I say "good".

Keep the hockey in hockey towns. What it's doing in Tampa in the first place is beyond me. Ditto Dallas. No snow, no hockey.

What else is there to do on a snowy winter evening? <G> Our minor league hockey team is the pits, so I'm happy the NHL owners got what they wanted. The players were misled by their team, but the real losers were the fans. Some teams may never recover.

LET'S GO RANGERS!

I don't like professional sports at all - to see a bunch of rich brats have lockouts and strikes because they think the $3,000,000 per year they are making isn't enough really gets on my nerves. I will stick to College sports (Yes, I know some of the get paid under the table), but they play more for the love of the sport than for the love of money.

Hockey has to be a northern thing. I have never ever watched one time on TV and would be bored to tears to do so.
Apparently the NHL made a huge mistake this year as the strike was one big yawn to the viewing public with most not missing it one bit.
I do know from friends in Minnesota that it is very popular there but I suspect the public as a whole could care less.
Bring on Football..

I am not excited to see those overpaid players get back to work. But lots of businesses need the hockey season to make money-restaurants, hotels, pubs, etc.
I do not mind an occasional hockey game. I think I was OverDosed when I was little!!
I just said to my daughter(8) this morning that every Canadian must learn how to ice skate(after she complained she does not know how to skate well).Of course, she said she wanted to move!! (Every school year so far, my 14 yr.old has been iceskating as a school activity.)

If it turns out to be a bad deal for Rangers, then it was worth it.
I just see Rangers making even more money than before and not having to spend it on the team.
But first I'd like to see decent Islander ticktets under $70. Taking the family has become a two hundred dollar event -- for a silly hockey game!

Yeah Hockey is coming back!!

FYI for all your Northerners, Canada included, hockey is popular here in South Florida. Go Panthers!!!!!! I met a lot of them and they were really nice. Both my kids (girl included) were ice hockey goalies. Not bad considering they're 1/2 Puerto Rican South Florida born!!

Love my Panthers! GGGRROOWWLLL
