I don't get the pop ups anymore, maybe because of the millions of things we've installed to stop them. But now I get whole web pages popping up! Have you noticed this too? Is this something new or was I just not getting them in the past?
Now when I close down the internet browser there's half a dozen web pages still on the screen I also have to close down. Do you have this too?
Have you done a "windows update" lately?
One major other thing to try is to change web browsers/email client.
I use Netscape and Netscape 7.2 with built in email client. I havent had these problems latley, but it could also have something to do with a recently installed/downloaded file/programe.
This is a Mozilla/5.0 (FIREFOX is based on this to) based web browser and I think it is less prone to popup/virus attacks as it is not "Microsoft".
Thats my two bits on this subject.
Sorry about all the "/'s" in this message as I love my "/" key .
Thomas. I don't have any of that stuff happening on my computer. Problem is we have so much anti spam-spy stuff on it, that sometimes I can't get to stuff I want to. I just use the thing, I don't know much about how it works.
Phyll, I am with you. I have lots of spam and pop up filter control. I haven't received a pop up in so long, I forgot what it is like to deal with them. If I need a window to open, I hold the Ctrl key when I click and it allows the window to open.
We don't have a whole lot-have noticed more of it on another cruise site, especially at the top of the roll calls. We have Ad-Aware, and Norton, and Macaffee, etc. However, as expressed by someone else, that sometime keeps us from getting into something or receiving something. I've noticed that I'm having more tracking cookies being blocked when I first get on the computer. For awhile, I wasn't getting any. But, with the visit from the grandson recently and going into different areas, like "free games", now we're getting more "stuff". Lynne
I just saw a pop-up come on my main page browser-Comcast.--sponsored by Comcast! I don't know where THAT came from, or WHY! I think they are like weeds. You can cover them with all the mulch and plastic bags you have, but eventually, they will find a way to get through!!! Lynne
