Default Little blankets on airplanes

I understand that most airlines no longer have those little blankets that you use when the A/C is cold. There is a name for these, but I cannot remember it.

I would like to buy two of these to use when we fly to Vancouver for our cruise on the Summit in September, and then use on board when sitting outside on a deck chair, watching the glaciers glide by.

Can anyone help me? Also, possible sources, such as LLBean, Lands'End, etc.

Thank you.

I have found small polar fleece blankets in Marshalls, have seen them in Walgreens too. Mine is slightly heavier then the airlines. What I am going to do before I fly again, is go the the fabric store, and buy some yardage...then you cut the ends like fringe, and tie them in a knot...tooo cute>>also in the stores, these are very inexpensve, in this size...

We have small sleeping bags. They roll up the size of a small pillow, and you can actually put your feet in them. I bought ours on QVC. We each have our own colors.

The best fund raiser our kids marching band ever did was selling fleece blankets that are about the size you're talking about....the only bad thing about them is they're bright orange! But ya gotta love the Indian Brave head on the end. I loved this fund raiser because it was a non perishable, non caloric item!
Angela Z. , who still has a few if PapaBill wants to be a Boone Brave supporter!

Sorry PapaBear for thinking this was PapaBill!

If you want to buy one ready-made, another source would be to check out Pendelton Mills. You can go on-line.

I made mine and love it. I got 21 weiner dogs and skinned them. The hide turned out fine and the dogs..................well, let's just say they weren't too happy running around naked.

Regards,
Thomas

Thomas, when I first came to this board, everyone used to be telling you to "Go to your room"! Well, now it's my turn: Thomas, GO to your room! <VBG>

thank-you Donna! you beat me to it!
Fleece blankets are made right here in Massachusetts. The outlet is Berkshire Blanket, i belive that they have a web site, same as the name. They are better than the ones you get at WalMart and the same thing that you buy from Lands End or LL Bean, at a much cheaper price.

I was going to recommend the polar fleece blankets. You can get them at any department store, either discount like Wal-mart or full price like Dillards.

Cheers,
Michelle P.

Thinking about those little blankets and pillows on planes makes me think of the 'bed bug' problems thread or in this case the head lice potential problem.
I know...they can be just sitting on the headrest in the plane waiting for the next passenger to sit down and put their head back!!
I think buying your own little light fleece blanket is a great idea PapaBear.

Hello,
I bought a couple of fleece throw at Old Navy store when they had the $5 special. Besides being a throw, they make great toddler blankets.
My mother in law just got back from an Alaskan cruise. I think she is hooked.

Sorry PapaBill! But, hey, if you're in the market for blankets, call me! :>)

Angela Z. who swears she's just kidding and would never resort to kids' fundraising on the boards...I'm sure there's rules about that!

hey, I made 38 fleece "tied in knots" blankets for Christmas...now, Im making personalized ones with my embroidery machine... anyone interested ? I can do solid color of choice with your name & perhaps a design... maybe a plane, a car, a motorcycle, ship, anchor, palm tree, frozen thingy, limitless possibilities... I am not FREE but Im affordable... lol Let me know... can get these out in no time !!

Heres an idea, I can make enough blankies to pay for a cruise... uh, not ! I think I will be making blankies til Y3K (year 3000) and not have made enough... oh well... nice to dream !

BTW:
I have to be Grinch guy. There are rules about selling stuff on the boards. It starts out small but it can get out of hand so even if it's for a good cause, and a cruise qualifies for that, we can't allow it.

Sorry,
Mike (The Grinch who stole Cruising) :-)

Wow, what a response!

Thank all of you. I will check all of the sources.

57 more days until sailing off on our big cruise.

Celbrating our 48th anniversary (sp?)

Also, I have been known as "PapaBear" for about 43 years!

My best to PapaBill!
