Sue, it sure was..most people could not absorb the amazing costs of a serious illnes at sea, when medivac is needed. Also, the heartbreak of a missed ship, plane etc..With insurance at least will be compensated. I know people who didn't buy it, and then regretted it, due to health issues onboard.

I spoke with a woman at my church the other day. Her nephew had to be medivaced off a cruise ship because of a ruptured appendix - his parents never bought the insurance - huge costs, but they had no choice, they couldn't endanger his life.
Always buy insurance for cruises, especially at our age......old and decrepit !! <>
When we first started cruising 25 years I did not buy any because we were young and at that age...NOTHING WILL HAPPEN TO YOU. Yea right.
