Default Update on Watson the Dachshund!

The vet kept him overnight and was going to test him today to see if he was getting better, worse, or still the same. If he was getting better he would wait until Monday to operate on his spinal column when he was strongest. But that didn't happen. This morning the doggie neurosurgeon operated on him. Mrs. Thomas was unable to sleep last night and would not move away from her cell phone all day. The vet was going to call as soon as he came out of surgery.

We still wondered if he had cancer or a ruptured disc or something else. The surgery was going to tell us more. The little guy went into surgery at 9:00 a.m. By 10:30 there was still no call. At 11:30 still no call. We were seriously worried now. Noon came and went and no word from the vet. At 1:30, finally, we heard the news we wanted to hear.

He came through just fine. There was no cancer. It was a ruptured disc and he should recover completely.

Mrs. Thomas told the neurosurgeon he better kiss Watson on the nose for her or she was withholding $1000 of his fee!!!! We won't get him back for another 4 days but I'd rather he be in good hands recovering properly than being hugged to death by HER!

Regards,
Thomas

I am so glad you have some good news in your household. Sometimes pets are just like kids..some people dont understand that unless they have pets. I am happy for your furry friend Thomas.

So happy to hear that the surgery was successful and Watson is on the mend. Our little "children" are so part of our families. I had also heard from another dacshund owner how delicate their spines get when they get older. God willing this will keep him from having anymore problems.

Way to go Watson (and the Thomas family) Glad to hear he'sa on the mend. They are our kids, because long after our kids have grown, we still have animals that need us.

What great news. Watson will be on the mend and Mrs. Thomas can sleep tonite. It's always terrible when bad things happen to our furry friends but such a relief when the outcome is good.

I'm very glad to hear all is well!

We have a dachshund, "Knock-Knock." He had a pinched nerve in his spine last summer and the waiting game was hell. We were afraid of a ruptured disc as well. Dachshund spinal colunns are very fragile, as you well know.

We keep our little darling on a very strict diet which is not easy with with a hungry doxie that would eat anything and everything if he were so allowed.

Congratulations!

Oooops there goes one nice cruise, kaching! $$$$$$$$$$$$

Thomas,

I am VERY glad to hear that Watson is doing well and that his prognosis is good. Just do the postop follow up and take care of the little guy, which I know you will.

The critters are expensive but they are worth it.

Take care,
Mike (Who also owns a Six Million Dollar Dog and doesn't regret it.)
