Re: Tuesday Morning!
Good morning Trip....and all to follow. I've been watching the coverage of the devastation of Katrina down in LA, AL and MS.........why people did not heed the evacuation orders is beyond me! I pray for their souls and their safety.
Not much going on here in SE Wisconsin.....weather is nice for August.....upper 70's and low humidity - can't be beat! I also can't wait for this weekend because I will start my packing for the Enchantment! Yippee!!!!!!!!
Have a great day everyone!
Crown Princess 1/18/14....the NEW Me, Myself and I cruise!
Hope everyone has a nice Tuesday as Monday was horrible to sit back & watch the devastation. Gas prices here went up 24 cents in a 3 hr period... one of the stations had sold out of everything but SUPER... so they were selling SUPER @ $2.54 when we filled up.... $36 for HALF a tank !!! Looks like we will be making lists before we start driving.... Oddly enough, I had already arranged to go the fish farm again tomorrow... seems kinda silly now... but its already arranged & the traps were set for me yesterday so I HAVE to go....
Good morning Kids! Seems like I totally lost yesterday...didn't even get to say hello.
Today is foggy and rainy...I guess we are beginning to see some effects from Katrina. Of course, it is nothing like what Louisanna and surrounding states are experiencing. How terrible! Another busy day at work today and tomorrow I am off to an all-day training session. Should be interesting. I hope you all have a great day!

Good morning! The photos and stories coming out of the Gulf Coast are astonishing and heartbreaking. I am familiar with Biloxi as a result of my Air Force service and could see how vulnerable it is to a hurricane of this magnitude. The amazing thing is that Katrina was still a hurricance hundreds of miles inland. Now it has been downgraded to a Tropical Storm and is (at 4am) near Columbus Missisippi where I was stationed in the late 70s. Columbus is several hundred miles inland but is very vulnerable to flooding. My thoughts and prayers to everyone touched by this disaster.
Everyone have a great day!!!

I am never up this early, but apparently other cruisemates don't sleep! It is dark and dull, with rain forecast here in Montreal. By Wed. or Thurs. we are to feel the remnants of Katrina. I cannot believe the devastation I have seen on TV! Prayers to those in that area.
Today is Orientation Day at daycare - no kids, just staff, a big meeting, and classroom preparation, so I have to be in early. I'm spoiled by not having to start work till 11:30 the rest of the year! Tomorrow will be a full day of St. John Ambulance (first aid) training.
Then the onslaught on Thurs. I wonder what will be worse, the tears and the crying of the new kids, or the storm that's supposed to hit?........
I, too, am thinking of all the devastation caused by Katrina. It is a shame that more people could not evacuate. For those who survived, they will be stuck in shelter with no power (for possibly a month!), no way to travel out, and probably, no home to go back to.
We got some rain last night for the first time in a month, so it will help out the drought conditions. (The thunder kept me up half the night)
I, too, have been watching TV and jsut can't believe the damage and devastation this storm has brought. Unbelievable and now the temps are due to be in the 90's, which will make it very oppressive. My thoughts and prayers for everyone.
Lisa, you're packing and the trip is a month away??? I'm just now starting to pack for Friday! :-) Everything is all staged and ready to go, carry on has cameras, binoculars, jewelry, toiletry bag is set except for last minute stuff but the suitcase doesn't get done until the night before!
I'm working 9 hour days this week, and a half day on Friday. My flight is at 6:30 so I can go in for awhile. Slow all summer now we are swamped! :-) It figures!
Well, I'm off for a bike ride before work. Haven't had time to go to Curves so I have to get some exercise in!
Well, we are back. Hard to believe a week ago Monday we were in Birmingham, AL. What a difference a week makes. I'd love to report that we had an uneventful trip, but that was not the case. We travelled thru 16 states, one amusement part, 4 universaties, one Wedding, one family day, and the purchase of a different vehicle, when ours finally died in NJ, in a very small town. My husband and I could have gone on about a dozen cruises for what this trip cost. I'm trying not to complain. In the big scope of things, we are blest beyond measure. Of course things here are already in ful swing. One of my husband's co-workers passed away on Sunday - a luekemia. Only 40 with 2 small children. Also yesterday a young girl that we know quite well and is niece of one of my closest friends ran away from home. She was found in Manchester, NH. She will be pressing charges against her parents and step father for abuse charges. Truly she is neglegted and mentally abused. Only 16. What a mess. She is cousin to that baby I requested prayer for this winter that was born with the brain problems, some of you may remember that some members of this family are quite dysfunctional.
Glad to be home. It will take for ever for me to catch up on the boards. If I missed something real important let me know as it might be several days before I can wade through all thoses posts. I missed you all!
I guess we are all thinking the same thing. Katrina!
Morning you all.
Foggy, muggy day today in Michigan.
Just getting ready for my first cruise. Reading as many posts as I can to get any additional info. Kids getting into the school mood. Already a lot of homework. Daughter had three hours last night. I felt bad for her. I think they give too much.
Have a good Tuesday all.....

Good morning from swfl....it is amazing and so sad to see what the storm did to all those people. Considering this storm went right by us here in FL.....when I see the heart breaking stories on TV I feel like crying. This is a huge mess and will likely take years to be cleaned up and rebuild.Even today after Charley hit us people are still without homes here.
I am sick with a cold or something. My throat is soar and my nose is stuffy and runny at the same time.
We have a new elementary school put right behind our house and they are clearing a huge amount of space of trees, bushes etc. It looks aweful and I am not happy.
Whne its all done it will have 1000 kids. I told my dh I want a fence NOW.Everybody is telling me my property values will rise but I don't care..I don't want a 1000 kids!
I still don't have a cabin number/docs. Isn't this a bit strange?
Take care mates....

Good morning from Central Florida. The devastation in the Gulf states is horrific. It will be such a long time before the area can even begin to get back to normal.
Been up since 4:30AM. Took Thumper to the airport last nite and as we were walking back into the house she called and said "come pick me up please". Seems the plane was overbooked and they offered her a voucher for future flight if she would give up her seat. Picked her up and got to spend another evening enjoying her company and then returned her to the airport this AM for the first flight out.
Think I'm gonna go take a nap. Have a great day everyone.
I've been glued to Katrina as well. This morning NBC reported that the streets in the French Quarter were becoming filled with water from Lake Ponchetrain. That was a highly unsuspected and unwelcome development. A levi was breeched overnight. That's not what the city needs right now.
My son was stationed in Biloxi with the USAF during his service and we've been through there and along Highway 90 a few times. It was a beautiful drive in some spots with all the plantation type homes along there. Many here in Florida have frequented the casinos as well. That will be a major blow to the economy over there if they are down for long. Hubby was stationed in Memphis, Tennessee with the Navy back in the 60's for training, which is inland as well. No thoughts of hurricanes there!
The sun is out again here in Avon Park FL and we've been told that we're in a reverse weather pattern-rains will come from the west coast due to the southwesterly winds associated with Katrina. High will be around 91 degrees w/humidity as well.
Good Morning cruisemates! Don't have any idea why I woke up so EARLY this morning. I detest seeing 5 AM <G>
Weather in Calgary is supposed to be nice again today with highs near 80 F... but I'll be enjoying it from work. My car is in the shop getting a new soft top put on it (from some vandal slicing the old one), so I've given my son the day off (since he starts college again on Thurs) and am borrowing his vehicle.
My folks return from Phoenix today, and Mrs. Kuki will have to pick them up from the airport because I have the movie company coming in today to sign contracts for the movie shoot.
Kind of odd really. They've set their "shooting schedule" (next Monday for our place) but we've yet to talk price for use of the location. Guess I can ask for a "gazillion dollars" <G>
Morning Mates and May God Bless all those that were in the way of that monster storm.
I just wish that everyone else could enjoy the rain that we got. We really needed it and it was a blessing to us but I know that all the others are not enjoying it as well.
Hope all of you that were not affected, have a great day and all the others that were affected, God Bless and good thoughts for a speedy recovery from Katrina.
I'm with all of you on the news and pictures of what Katrina has done. My prayers are with all of those dealing with the devestation. The storm goes through so quickly, but dealing with what it has left behind is an unimaginable task.
Lots going on around here, and I'm struggling with the emotions. I have to get some stuff checked out with the doctors, and although it probably isn't anything serious, the not knowing part is the pits. I sure could use your prayers. I'll let you know the results as soon as I find them out.
Well, I am up and functioning. I am feeling well enough to get moving. I now have literally 37 things to do. That's how many things are on my list. Today my son will be driving me all over town helping me get about 18 of them done.
I hope you all have a great Tuesday.
Phyll: You take care of yourself. I'm thinking of you.

Good morning mates from Central AZ. I too was glued to the TV screen yesterday and it's not a pretty sight on what Katrina did in the Gulf States!!!! May God give all those people affected....strength and comfort in the weeks to come.
No change in our weather.....No rain, clear blue skies and temps. to be in the low 90's today.
The sale of the Tracker went well yesterday and now down to two vehicles in the garage. The plan for today is to get some odd jobs done around the house.
Cloudy and overcast here on the east coast of Va. from Katrina they say,,,,Goodness what a mess she has left. I pray for everyone in her trail. Totaly heartbreaking to watch on t.v. but like everone else I sit glued to it.
