Fox News is just reporting that the Mississippi River has reclaimed the city of New Orleans..it is flooding all over the town and looting is rampant. This is not just a tragedy but SO sad, sad, sad. Our local Convention Center is discussing at this moment as to whether open our Center up or not...I am speechless at this point.

THEY JUST ANNOUNCED HERE IN HOT SPRINGS, ARK....Summit Arena is now a refugee shelter..if anyone in Baton Rouge or Ham Radio Ops can get this message out then thank you very much

I wish I had read this earlier. Net operations moved at sundown to 80M, for which I don't have an antenna. I assume the word has probably already spread by this time.

BTW, BigJohn, if you want to monitor, try these frequencies:
Health and Welfare traffic - 7.290 MHz Day Net
Health and Welfare traffic - 3.935 MHz Evening Net
Emergency Traffic - 7.285 MHz - Day Net
Emergency Traffic - 3.873 MHz Evening Net.

What has happened down there is just incomprehensible. The other day I was monitoring Hurricane Watch Net, as Kat approached. I heard a couple check in from aboard their sailboat between Perdido and Wolf Bays. They announced their intention to ride it out in a "safe" bayou. I keep wondering about them.

Steve..I heard the same and seems like I heard yesterday, while at work, that they thought that they were in a safe harbor and ended up on an island but were okay..IF it were the same ones and I think they were.
