Another day of suffering for the people in the Gulf states. We got our little piece of Katrina last night & thismorning. Just some rain & wind. Now it's supposed to be beautiful the next few days. I feel guilty for having nice weather, a roof over my head and all the comforts life has to offer every time I look at the news. I can only hope things will start to improve for all those poor souls affected by this horrible tragedy.
Good Morning CruiseMates!!! Looks like a lovely day coming up for NH's Lakes Region. Busy, busy, busy!!!! I have been running all over trying to get stuff together to pack for the cruise. I have already done 3 loads of laundry and have been folding and sorting clothes all morning. Work this afternoon, I will be too tired to cook for the kids by then.
Sue feel better soon.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.“
Not much going on today. I'm running a little late this morning because my alarm was 25 minutes late. I have it set to a radio station, and they seem to be having problems this morning. Luckily, they were on for 10 minutes at 6:00, so I jumped in the shower, brushed my teeth, and off to work I went. I think it's going to be one of those days.
Another 6:30 a.m for me, as I start work at 8:30 again. Today is the first day of the new year, and I will be faced with 16 brand-new 2 1/2 yr. olds who have never been to daycare before. Packing my ear plugs........
I know how you feel Rebel - I'm just trying to be thankful of all my blessings, and keep telling myself that even on my worst days there are 1000's of people that would want to trade places with me as all over the world so many live is such dire circumstances. It really changes one's perspective. Not that I don't have moments where I worry about stuff, keeping my eyes on the big picture and looking for opportunities to help others takes the focus off myself.
My poor dog has been really ill since my return home. He has meds from the Vets. Hopefully the kick in today. If not, I'll bring him back for a re-check. I think he caught something while he was borded there (he and my mom's dogs had to go there during the last 4 days of my trip due to the wedding). Guess I'll look for a different place next time I have to board him anywhere but at my mom's.
Nothing to exciting - off to work. My appointment went well yesterday, tho' I'm not excited to undergo thru all the described and the cost (which won't be covered by insurance) is way more than the orginally thought. Oh, well. In the end it will be worth it.
I truly hope each of you Mates have a peaceful day.
I know how you feel you guys. Today I woke up and thought about these people and started to feel guilty about going on a cruise while all these people are homeless. You know what I mean? I'm going to go. I'll have fun regardless, but I can't help but to think of these people and know it will be awhile before they will have "fun" again.
Hope you all have a great day. Last day of school for my kids. They are already tired and overwhelmed by school. Four days off will be good.
Donna: I'm still a "CM in Training" till I get back and no longer a "cruise virgin".
Local newspaper article: ''CANADA OFFERS TO HELP KATRINA'S VICTIMS''. It goes on: ''Officials prepare to send whatever type of aid U.S. requires in hurricanes's aftermath''. Also in the same article: ''Canadian officials have started getting ready to send whatever type of aid the United Staes requirs to help with the aftermath of hurricane Katrina, Deputy Prime Minister Anne McLellan said yesterday. '' We want to reassure the people of the United States that we their best friends and their neighbour, and we will be there to help them in a situation that is truly without parallel in our country or theirs,'' said McLellan.
Good morning from Central Florida. Have been glued to the television for days now, watching the horrific conditions that the poor people of the Gulf coast are enduring. It troubles me deeply that our government agencies have been so slow to respond to the needs of our people. We are praying that help arrives quickly to bring the needed supplies and comfort to those in need.
Good Morning cruisemates! Sunny in Calgary this morning, and I'm waiting to pick up my car from having a new roof put on before heading to work.
No question, there's been a terrible tragedy...and it's difficult to watch the hardships people are enduring. Sadly, this is going to continue for a very long time, and many people in the area have had their lives changed forever.
Everyone should do what they can!... but life does still go on, even after difficult circumstances. All those lives have likely been changed by the events and because of it the way we think about things.. but life must go on.
Good morning from Southern California. We have a breather from the high temps and enjoying it.
Last night I went into the den to tel Keith something, and I tripped and fell. All stiff and sore today.
I, too, have been watching the devastation in the Gulf states, I'm very upset by it. There are lots of fund raisers out here. I hope everybody donates something. I usually donate to the American Diabetes Assn. at this time of year. (I am a diabetic.) But this time, I think I'll give to the Red Cross. I wish I could donate to all worthy causes, but I simply do not have the money.
