Two days ago I paid $2.55 per gallon on the Garden State Parkway in NJ. The station in my office park was $2.82 at the time. That guy is $3.21 today and he is one of the cheapest around. Competing stations at the bottom of the hill are at $3.39 and $3.41.
(those are regular prices). One nearby station has gone to $3.66.
Our gas comes from refineries in NJ. Did Katrina hit up here? I must have slept through that?
It is right around $3.28 a gallon here in central Wisconsin.... not to mention it is Labor Day weekend, and all the gas stations like to raise it for all the travelers. They are talking $4-$5 a gallon my the end of the weekend........ At this point I am glad my car gets 36 miles per gallon!

Well, if it makes you feel anybetter. The gas prices in Mississippi have gone up overnight also. We were at 2.55 yesterday and today we are at $2.80, but keep in mind we are under a state of emergency and they cannot raise gas prices as much as they would like.
Also, we are running out of gas here, because there is no electricity to pump it from the stations.
On Monday in Southern California our price for regular was $2.73, then jumped to $2.85 on Tuesday and yesterday was $2.92. I don't know why our "wonderful" governor isn't doing something to give us relief in prices (he says we should do all we can to save gas as he pulls up in his Hummer!). He could relieve us of some of the taxes on gasoline.
I truly find it hard to believe that the gas companies are affected by the hurricane so quickly that they have to raise prices every few minutes....this is obviously gouging, which I thought was illegal, not to mention immoral and GREEDY!!!

Prices in north Atlanta, Alpharetta, are $0.00 because they ran out of gas. The media created a panic and there was a run on gas yesterday. A pipeline supplying Atlanta was down and one has diminished capacity.
papabill- I am in NJ as well. Last night on rt 206 in hillsborough, one station jumped to $2.95 while another right next door was still at $2.79 but told us they would be increasing in the am.
I had heard a report on the radio a few weeks ago that gas stations on the NJ Turnpike and Parkway are only allowed to change their prices once a week and that occurs on fridays. So if you need to fill up do it today.
I'm in NJ & as of last night the "acting" gov. is allowing the GSP & NJ Turnpike to raise gas prices as they keep changing, so they are NOT waiting for friday's anymore. =(
I could also kick myself for not topping off my tank when I passed by a station that was at $2.75 this morning, because the one a little further down the road was at $3.19, same highway maybe a mile apart!!
This is all so sad what is going on.
Got gas this morning. One station was 3:05 for regular. I use the super unleaded or my car knocks and pings. Super was 3:25.
Another station was 2:79 for regular and 2.99 for mine.
That was at 7:30 this morning.
We have stations called Bucees (which is actually Texaco). Newspaper says that they are out of gas, but rumors say they are boycotting the prices and wont sell until the prices drop. Who knows, but they are a major station around here and the ones in Angleton, Freeport, Lake Jackson and Brazoria are all closed. We still have quite a few stations open but prices are stupid!
$3.36 up here in Northern Michigan this morning. Was $2.99 yesterday.
As unpleasant as these prices might be, I had to remind some people at work about priorities:
A 22 year old waitress came to work yesterday carrying a $5.25 pack of cigarettes.
A 19 year old salad girl came in carrying a $3.00 mocha coffee.
An 18 year old busser came in carrying a $1.79 bottle of water.
I explained to them that as soon as they gave up those things, they should not complain about the price of gas. Not to mention the cell phones all of them had with them - how much are they a month?
So, we might have to cut back on a few things temporarily - just keep priorities straight.
Here in Milwaukee price yesterday was 2.99. This morning 3.29. I only live a few minutes from work. Good for me I filled up over a week ago when it had gotten down to 2.56. I can't see myself paying 3.29, so it looks like the bike for me or walking! That's okay, I need to lose a few pounds anyway, lol. (Not really a lol matter, it's really a very sad situation what we're seeing).
In Portland, OR this morning I passed a station that was 2.67 a gallon, which is just about where it has been for the last week or so. I can only assume that that means the rising prices haven't hit us as hard YET!
Hi Bob - I'm from Nashua too! Tuesday when I filled up it was $2.57. This morning on my way to work I noticed it was $2.88 and when I went home at lunch the same station now has it at $3.03.

The guy at the top of the hill here in our office park has gone from $3.21 this morning to $3.41 this afternoon. ($2.82 yesterday). Anybody believe that he has gotten two gas deliveries since last night?? I think, because his location is isolated , he pushed it to $3.21 thinking he was getting all he could and now he realizes the guys at the bottom of the hill are 20cents higher so he raised his price again.
