I know I'm always bragging on my teen group here in Atlanta (I am their teacher and many other things!), but I've got MORE:
The Boy Scout Troop and Venture Crew with which I am associated packed 715 emergency health kits for UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) to distribute THIS WEEK in Lousiana. Another 200 are going later this week. UMCOR told us we were the first big donation.
My homeschool teen group (I am their facilitator) held a benefit lunch yesterday and raised almost $400.
This same group is planning a benefit concert in October, with all proceeds going to hurricane survivors.
When there are so many sad stories of recalcitrant youth, horror stories of bad behavior on ships, I just wanted to share some stories of youth that really do care!

It's good to hear that, Dorothy. My DH works with teens also and I hope the students of his school are doing something. Today was his first day back.
The Katrina fiasco is all at once horrifying, tragic, sad, unspeakably
depressing and hopeless for all those people who dream of ever living
in their homes again. How do people ever cope with that? All our hearts
break for them.

Dorothy........crow all you want, we need GOOD news right now and what these kids are doing is ALL GOOD!!!!! Love it!!!! What county in the Atlanta area are you in? My daughter moved from Cherokee County (used to be country!) down here to FL last year.
