First, I do assume this is a US passport?

If so, yes it is absolutely still good - they are issued for a period of 10 years, so that means you got yours about 3 years ago, right?

It's a valid document, and should be fine.

If you have any doubts, take it with you and go to your post office. They are also passport offices, and they can help you with any other questions you have.

Nothing in the new rules will void or change the expiration dates of passports that are current. It will expire when it says it will expire. It's just that you'll now need it in places and at times you didn't need it before. That is, in another year and four months.

Our passport was issued from New Orleans in 2001. Was just wondering about folks who have applied for new or renewals from New Orleans? They may have a long bureaucratic wait.

Hi Denise,

Yes, your passport is fine. At some time the government will be putting computer chips in passports, but as far as I have heard, that will only apply to new and renewed passports. Our passports should be okay until we have to renew them. BTW, I posted on your "DENISE H" message about changing your screen name, just in case you haven't read it

Have a great day
