While on a cruise, other than family, what do you miss??? For me, one of the things is popcorn. It is my snack food of choice and I do miss being able to have some while at sea.....

We miss our cat. >^..^< We know he's well taken care of by the house sitter, but I still feel guilty about leaving him! Whenever we bring out the luggage he sits in it and meooooows.

I absolutely miss my dog. We are very close. Don't miss my cat so much, he doesn't like me, but hubby misses him. I am lucky to have found a great pet-sitter who looks after them in her own home, with her own kids and pets. They love going "on vacation" there!
What I absolutely DON'T miss, is the Montreal weather, when we sail in the winter!
I miss cooking, cleaning, non-stop ringing phones, dealing with panicing or irate clients, mowing the lawn, getting the kids to the school and the sitter in the mornings, packing lunches.
NOT!!
Honestly there is very little I miss while I am on a cruise. As long as I have hubby and the kids with me, what else is there?

I'm with Mike, I miss my own bed and that fuzzy feeling you get when you get home (that good to be back home feeling).
The only thing that hits me really hard is (contrary to my avatar) my kids. When we go away without them we love spending the time with each other and usually other friends (we usually go in groups), but I really start missing them on the first day away and it gets worse and worse.
I also miss my bed... and pillows... and the sense of well-being.... sleeping in your own piece of heaven, here on earth... doon as we get over the planning the vacation, and the getting to the vacation part... I cant WAIT to get home.... crazy I know... but, I like being home too !!
Being a Stay-at-home-ManWhore and dead beat Dad I'll miss my XBOX. All kidding aside but does relate to my children I will miss the first school field trip for each of my boys. Like to be involved with the school. This will be the first time they won't have Mom or Dad to drive. Leaving for Vancouver on Monday, my 3 year unemployed anniversary. Gotta love those DOT BOMB companies and SugarMomma.
I miss having apples that are not red delicious.
One year I wanted peanut butter on my toast so I asked the guy at the buffet counter. He went into the back and got a bowl filled with the kind that has jelly mixed in.

Yoiur joking right? Let's see, I have only two sisters, no parents, grandparents, no pets & 1 daughter who is on her own, So, in all honesty, I miss nothing. I find the beds to be fine, I ask for extra pillows, I drink the Cappucino, I don't snack at home other than fruit, which is on board. So I don't really have anything to miss. Give me the salt air anytime.
oh don't get me wrong Set2cruz, my post is about what I do happen to miss, but would gladly give up (and we do) to smell that salt air.
I was going to scholiaze my next thoughts which were some of the little things I really look forward to (but then that would be taking the thread off topic - which I would never do).
I really look forward to that first afternoon nap, ya know, you get on the ship walk around etc have a big lunch, settle down for a nap at around 2pm and wake up an hour later drenched in a pool of drool on your pillow - OH YEAH! You know that "I'm ready to take on the world feeling" - I love the gentle rocking! I love watching the sun set on the ocean and the feeling of reflection I get looking at the curvature of the Earth on the horizon and realize how insignificant little things that normally bother me really are. (Little things like spats with the wife, the kids, work, the traffic on the way home, etc etc)
Oh Oh, and I love that feeling of leaving everything behind when the ship leaves port and the sight of land gets further and further away, all my worries and stress drifts away..........
....I'm almost there now......but nothing like the real thing!
I've noticed something very interesting on this thread thus far. Jodi originally asked what we missed, while cruising, other than family. A large percentage of you said you miss your cat, dog, gerbil, etc. My question: Don't you consider your pets part of your families? Tsk tsk! Gotcha!!
As for me, who has no pets at this time, I guess I'll have to say that I miss my home and our calming view of the lake the most. I know, I know, if I'm looking at the ocean how can I miss my lake? Well, I do! Because staring at the Caribbean or wherever is just not the same as the view from my family room. And I also miss my own power-shower.

(Mickey aka Brad - you're right, I missed the "other than family" part - It was Jodi; I usually ignore Jodi, I like my imaginary friends better!)
I have, even with all that delicious food, missed my Mexican food, and chips and really good salsa. Guess that's a hazard of living in Texas.
Miss my bed? Put me anywhere (extra pillows are nice), on a ship or on a trip, and I'm happy. My DH has the thing about the bed, and his fav snack foods.
bathroom space and my own pillow. The pillow could become a non-issue since Princess no has a "pillow menu" available if you book a mini-suite or better,
Interesting that so many people miss their beds. I generally sleep well, but on ships I tend to sleep extremely well. Don't know why--probably because I'm getting plenty of exercise, plus maybe the gentle rocking in moderate seas. But I generally sleep like a baby aboard ship.
One day on our last cruise a few weeks ago, I awoke to see my wife eating breakfast. I hadn't even heard her get up to let the room service guy in.
I can't honestly say I miss anything while cruising. Sometimes, like everybody, I still look forward to getting home after a long trip, but there's nothing specific that I feel cheated about.
Other than family , I miss getting up at 5am to get ready for work. I miss driving 30 miles each way to work. I miss 75 emails, and 40 phone calls a day. I miss 40 people who can't make a decision for themselves. I miss home maintenance bill paying , prime time tv, fast food and take out lunches, leftovers and trips to the grocery store.
In truth , other than my girls and my grandchildren, I cannot think of anything that I miss when I am sitting in a lounge chair, watching blue water pass by with a Corona in one hand , and good book in the other and Gram sitting next to me. What could you miss??
I don't miss my home or the weather, or this place in general (picture the money pit movie when Tom Hanks says "home crap home".)
I don't miss the phone, computer, tv, radio, nothing like that. I don't even miss my bed. I sleep so much better on vacation than I do at home.
If my kids don't go, I miss them most.
I miss my puppies. They are my furbabies.
I miss driving my car
