Keith went to the gym this morning and fell. He tripped on a metal bench that was the same color as the industrial strength carpet (black). He has a big swollen bruise above his right eye just under the scar from his brain surgery in May of '04.
The gym people called the paramedics. Keith did not lose consciousness. The paramedics said that he incurred a carpet burn but that it would not need stitches. They did suggest I take him to our clinic where there's Urgent Care. They cleaned the scrape and gave him a booster tetanus shot.
Why the prayers? Well, he could have seizures again. The Dr. said Keith should cool it this weekend, but if he has headaches, vomits, or has a seizure, of course, get him to an ER. The doctor thought he should be okay be Monday. Please, please pray that this will be so. He's been doing so well.
Sorry to read about Keith's fall, Judy. If it isn't one thing, it's another. Poor guy. And poor Judy. As I write I'm saying a prayer for his recovery from this accident. And like Jason wrote, we should never hesitate to get a tetanus shot (if we haven't had one in the past 10 years). Sometimes emergency medical folks forget to ask if a recent booster has been received.
My thoughts and prayers will be with you and Keith this weekend. Most times a fall and scrape look worse than the actual internal damage and let's hope that is all there is to it.
I think Keith needs a better story to go with his wounds. How about something along the lines of injuries received while battling off 5 armed muggers trying to steal his wallet? (and you should see the other guys).
Ouch!!! That's gotta hurt. I always blame my cuts and bruises on spousal abuse.
I do hope Keith is doing all right and yes, get the shot and take it easy this weekend.
Unless there really was a concussion to his brain, I don't think you have anything to worry about. The external damage looks worse than the internal damage. I have more scars and scrapes that have made no difference. Hopefully this is all Keith has. Just another battle scar.
I'm thnking about him and wishing him the best.

You and Keith are in my thoughts. I see this happening at work a lot. A resident is just getting back on his/her feet and then falls! Best wishes for you both this weekend, and I trust he'll be fine on Monday! Lynne
Our prayers going out to you Judy & GRACE! Hope he will be feeling better soon so he doesn't have to get that Cat scan (if it is anything like Jason's cat - yikes !). Boy I remember how sick Jason got after the tetanus don't you all? Gracie (Keith) will be up & going before you know it
Add my prayers too. Did somthing similar years back except I was on roller skates at the time (for the last time). Exited rink, ran afoul of a black bench on black carpet. Proceeded to do a complete somersault bounced my head off of the bench and went sliding on my bum and skates into a convenient wall. Concussion and broken ankle.
Get better Keith!
