This weeks episode of this show involves 1 woman and 1 man of good looks.
The woman is a cheer leader for a football team.
She is transformed using prostectics into a serious burn suvivor and sent out in public with a facial pressure mask, to see how her life is transformed.
This could be quite distressing for her.
The second is a male 28 year old model and using the same process is transformed, into a 55 year old man which is over weight and balding.
This one could be quite funny.
The woman actually spent a lot of time with 2 burn survivors and learnt a lot about the reality of their situation before she went out in public. It was the "staring" that finally got to her.
After all it is a social experiment and I think viewers would have had a good insight to what these survivors go through every day of their lives.
The old fat man was funny tho. People kept on picking him as younger because he just couldn't get the "attitude" correct.
I saw something similar once... with a girl wearing a suit to make her "big" (I hate the "f" word) .... it was amazing to see how rude the other teens @ school were to her. While some people generally just over-eat... ALOT of "big" people do indeed have medical conditions that make them have this problem.
We also have a commercial run occasionally with this BEAUTIFUL girl... goes off to college, gets hit by a drunk driver and totally DESTROYS her face, body you name it... you would never believe its the same person.
That is very sad to see.... I think if I were in her shoes, I dont think I would WANT to survive !! I guess some would think surviving at all is better than death. But, I think that may be a perception thing also....
I guess I'm a little over sensitive about things like this. My uncle was very short and in a wheelchair because of Brittle Bone Disease. He was used to being stared at, but it drove me crazy! One time a bouncer denied us entrance into a hotel bar. My uncle was ready to leave, but I demanded to speak to the manager. They had to call him at home and when he finally showed up I gave him a BIG piece of my mind. I'm afraid I embarrassed myself and my uncle , but we did get into that bar, had one drink, then left. Since my uncle was a "big spender" they lost a lot of $
I can understand the 28 year old not knowing how to act like a 55 year old I think that probably would have been funny.
I've seen that ad, too. While it is very depressing, it sure gets it's point across.
Anyway, off my soapbox now,
"A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour."

Welcome to my world... Overweight and hard to look at. I've been told that my humor allows people to look beyond my physical shortcomings. That said, I realized all my friends have some sort of sight deficiency and most wear glasses... Hope I didn't cause them..!
