Just received an e-mail from my friend Luis who was shipped to Iraq the end of July. He is limited to the number of e-mails and phone calls, so it was SO great to "hear" from him. (my last e-mail from him was in mid August) He is doing well and adjusting. Only 10 more months and God willing, he'll be home again.
My daughter has a couple of friends stationed in Iraq - each are married, but everyone and a while they use one of their calls to call her. It is such a good feeling when they do, especially when they report that they are ok.
That's the best part about hearing from him. Knowing that he is okay. He got married about 9 months before he was shipped out. They didn't know he was going until after they were married. His wife is taking it one day at a time but she is still having a hard time dealing with it. She has a great support team with her family and friends.
My cousin sends out regular e-mail updates from Iraq as well. It's so great to be able to hear from him almost real time. What did we do before e-mail?!
