There's Something Wrong With Me
Ok guys, I know I posted something a few weeks ago about this, but now I am gettin' scared. We sail out on Sunday on the Valor. I am not excited yet, I don't know if it hasn't hit me yet, or I am just going nuts, but I am not excited. I feel bad because the group that we are going with will start dacing or singing out of nowhere with excitement, and here I am just shrugging my shoulders about it. What in the heck is wrong with me?? HELP!

Are you very busy right now? I've found that if I'm really busy or stressed before a cruise it's hard for me to get as excited because it doesn't seem "real" to me. Just wait - the excitement will come, even if it's the day before.

Put a Bob Marley, or Jimmy Buffet cd on, sit in a beach chair, with your feet up, pour yourself a marguerita, and say, 'ya mon", a few times..I hope this works

Those darn feelings are so fickle!!!! I usually stress out a bit just before a cruise thinking about packing, getting to the port etc. I like Trip's suggestion for you, and if that doesn't work, I'm sure that once you get on that ship the excitement will follow.

My diagnoisis is that you have gone completly nuts. :-P but, then again, I am not a MD... :D Hang in there, you are just busy and in that numb stage because it is almost here. You will get excited. By chance you dont. See the Doc on board. Have a great trip.

Thanks for all the replies guys! I didn't think I was stressing, but I guess anything is possible. It's funny, I told my husband this morning that when I get home, we are going to start to pack, and I am putting on Jimmy Buffett's greatest hits. A little "Volcano" maybe goes a long way!! I hope that this helps, I guess it can't hurt. I am sure by Friday I will be pulling my hair out trying to calm myself!

Thanks Again,

I have the PERFECT solution. I'll GO in your place!!!

I get excited FAST! LOL LOL LOL

I'm pretty moderate in my feelings about my cruise right now. We go out in about 4 weeks and I probably won't really get revved up until I start packing, which will be the week we leave. Also, we are going down a day early, so I'll have to be ready by the Friday. I also work full-time, so what generally happens is that I get caught up in the work deadlines and end up forgetting about family deadlines--like sending out birthday cards, etc.

The time the cruise REALLY hits me is at the point when that first photo is taken before going aboard, and THEN when I hear that Caribbean music when I enter the Ship and the staff is pointing the way to the proper elevator for our deck. That's when I know I'm really cruising!!!

The second point is the time when we pull out of port-in our case, Port Everglades. Once we make the turn up the Channel towards the ocean, and then hear all the horns and people greeting us from the white apt building and THEN enter the ocean--I am on my way!!! Few to no thoughts about home or work will exist for the rest of the week.

It also doesn't hurt having folks from your cruise or roll call recognize you as you pull into the terminal and they start shouting, "Hey Lynne" and waving. Then presenting you with a special gift they bought you for the cruise. That happened last year. I'm still corresponding with that particular family.

So, are you excited yet?????? Anything witha tropical beat should get you in the mood this week! Lynne

I am the opposite from those above. I don't want to get excited, to early. To get excited for me, is to have my brain shut down, and the count down clock to show down. You have time to get excited. Just don't wait until you see the ship for the first time. You might wet your pants, and all your extra clothes will be packed. LOL

Well, I went home yesterday, brought down the suitcases, and put on a little "Volcano." There really is something about Jimmy Buffett that can get the blood pumping with salt water!! My DH and I looked like a couple of idiots dancing around in the bedroom, but oh well!

I also helped that it was about 55 degrees in the bedroom this morning (we left the windows open). I kept thinking to myself, next week it will be beautiful, and warm when I wake up. I am still not as excited as I should be, but I think I am getting closer.

Thanks Kuki for the offer, but I am not too sure if my husband would like to wake up snuggling another man!

Thanks for the ideas everyone, you all have been great!!!
