Never see anything on the boards about Guatamala, we are going there and want to know what there is to see, or should we just stay on the ship. I have heard that Guatamala was not a safe place to be. We are going to Santo Tomas de Castilla.
Thanks all of you!
We were there just last year in November. It is a very plesent country.
We took the tour into the rain forest, and rubber plantation.
Just don't drink the water.
The town where the tour started was Puente Rio Dulce and the village was called Hacienta Tijax.
I don't remember what tour company we used. but the ship should have some nice ones. Depending on your shore trips and time. We spent most of the day hiking up the mountains, had a light snack and back to the ship in under 4 hours. Here is a web site to check out what may interest you www.fundaeco.org
Hope this helps
Never been there, but some of the nicest, most polite, and interesting cruise table mates we've ever had, were a family from Guatamala. My son still e-mails the lovely young lady he met at dinner and hung around with all week.
