I went to Dr today and had the spot on my shoulder excised... it is so sore and I am now sporting 7 stitches... she also froze off 4 spots from other shoulder and 1 from my hand.... I get stitches out in 10 days... they are sending the growth for pathology... not sure when I get the results... I was too busy chit chatting with our Dr to get the details (we love her... she is great) Im glad my ds didnt accompany me cause it looked like a ketchup bottle had been knocked over... blood everywhere....
Yall please keep good thoughts for me.... will let u know when I find out...
Excised? Is that the word? Well, I guess I will be "excised " too this week. I have an appointment Thurs. to check out 2 moles that are worrying me. Steph, you and I can let each other know how it goes!

Anyhow, you get healed now, hear? None of this "recovery" or "recuperation" stuff, kay? Strickly Nachos and Bud.

my Dr said removing something is called an excision... so wouldnt that mean it was excised ? Or maybe excision removed ? who knows...I just thought it was odd that it was close to EXCORCISM... cause it does hurt like hell now..... will keep ya posted...
no bud for my recuperation.... now maybe a daquiri... strawberry ? peach ? banana ? heck one of each flavor...
Ouch Steph, heal fast and feel better. pain by any other name still hurts. Get well soon.

I've had several of those excisions myself, Steph. Three were basal cell carcinomas and four were of the squamous cell variety. But by whatever name they're known, they are cancerous tumors which require treatment. I'm glad that you had this taken care of.
Both types of carcinoma usually attack surrounding tissue. But the squamous cells are considered to be the more serious of the two conditions because they sometimes metastasize (spread) to distant parts of the body and can be fatal. But only your dermatologist knows which is which, and it's better to let a doctor examine any growths on your skin than to think "maybe it's nothing serious".
The odds are that the excision has taken care of the problem, and that you'll be just fine. But an annual visit to your dermatologist might not be a bad idea for the future. I have to see mine twice a year, but I don't mind a bit. I figure it's keeping me alive.
Thinking of you, Steph and hope all is well! I've had that done, too and fortunately negative results!
Silly me, has burned my back seriously many times (even recently, forgetting to wear a t-shirt when snorkeling), I go for check-ups. My face is bad, too, years of being a sun bunny.
Worst thing I had done was on the side of my nose, the injection spot was more painful than the removal!
I'll toast you later today with my Margarita wine cooler, a little early! :-)
no word back from Dr yet... not sure if that is good or bad.. they didnt tell me how long results will be... maybe they will tell me when I go in to get stitches out... thanks for all your kind thoughts...
