David and I Flew to San Francisco last weekend to attend the fifth annual "Hardly Strictly Buegrass Festival" at Golden Gate Park. The event was free and featured five stages for two full days with no admission charge.
The fifty bands playing included Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Rosanne Cash, Joan Baez, Steve Earl, Ricky Skaggs, Ralph Stanley, Eliza Gilkyson,
Todd Snider, Rodney Crowell, Doc Watson, Hot Rize, The Knitters, Dave Alvin, Joe Ely, etc. Etc. Etc.
The weather was fantastic and the only downside was choosing which stage, nestled in the Eucalyptus & Oak woods, to go to at any given moment. It was the most amazing musical event I have ever attended and was probably as close to heaven as David or I will ever get. We are already planning next years Blue Grass Etal pilgrimage and we can hardly wait.
