That was my reaction too! My husband takes about a third of that. For a 7 day cruise all of our luggage fits in two carry-on size suitcases and 1 garment bag!

Hey.. I admitted I was a OVER PACKER

The key to my packing list is on a 7 day cruise, plus a pre cruise night, I take enough that I don't wear the same thing twice, nor do we do laundry, or send it out... so with the travel days, we're really talking about packing for 8 full days.

It's just an eccentricity of mine.... I don't eat leftovers either :o

All my years through high school and university I worked selling men's clothing, so became a bit of a clothes horse... and it seems its stuck with me.

Darn, and here I was planning on wearing the same clothes for 16 straight days. That way my luggage would consist of a plastic grocery bag.

Guess that I'll have to rethink the whole thing!

Well, OK Kuki, that's fair enough.

But you should get somebody to do an "other side of the coin" article for men who take the opposite approach.

Both your point of view and the "minimalist" alternative are valid for people as long as they understand the tradeoffs. Because, by almost any standard, your list would qualify as "extreme" on the overpacking side.

A "how little can you get away with and still not smell or be a social outcast" article would be a nice balance.

Are you a minimalisit? You have a wonderful, easy to read, way with words. Maybe you could write it, and become CruiseMates next ( ) great writer.... and then write off all your future cruises 8)

Good news, Kuki and everyone ... Anne said I could pen the opposite viewpoint ... in my case, a taskmaster packer. It's on the agenda today to get out to her, so watch for it.

Kuki, I already set the rule with Art -- we pack for a 7-night, and reuse and use the laundry! (Luckily, it's right around the corner from our cabin)
