Default Need a Name...

Hi CruiseMates. My daughter just adopted an adorable little kitten to keep her company in her new apartment. Trouble is, she can't decide on a name for him, and I thought maybe you could help.
He is tiny, skinny, and all gray except for a little tuft of white chest hair. He has really pointy ears and a narrow face, and is smooth-haired, not fluffy. That's the best description I can give without a photo!
Post your suggestions, and I'll let you know what we decide!

Donna,
He sounds so cute. I've never been around cats...allergic
We have a dog that our son bought for us against wishes but once we saw her, of course we fell in love and can't imagine life without her. Only problem, he named her Jager as in Jagermeister! Sometimes I call her Megan! Because we are cruise addicts, I have thought about names that relate. IF we were to ever get another dog I have always wanted to name her Saylor (sailor) and my husband even likes the name. If she likes it, feel free to use it.

I had a cat when I was younger that sounds like this one. I named him SMOKEY.

RD: Your description sounds just like a cat that I had for 22 years! Her name was Chessie.

We've always had a hard time naming cats, because we've gotten two at a time. Our first two were named Oscar and Felix...truly an odd couple(one long hair gray tabby, the other short hair white & gray).

Gizmo and stripe were named after the movie Gremlins. Gizmo had different colored fur on her forehead that reminded me of the character in the movie. Stripe was just was just a gray and black tabby with nicely defined stripes.

We had the hardest time naming our current cats. After watching Scooter run around the house his name was easy. Skeeter was named when I was just playing around with words rhyming with Scooter.

Needless to say, naming a pet is often not a science but a feeling.

Have fun naming the cat.

I have a friend who calls his cat: ''Chat'' There's never any guessing as to who he's referring to.

To those who don't understand this, ''Chat'' is french for ''Cat''

If it's a frisky little thing, I say "Skittles". For the way they run across the floor.

Hey, what do we get if you pick one of our suggestions?

TBug, you win a free cruise!! (Just kidding!) I do like Skittles though, I will suggest that one.
Nolou, I like your suggestion, and suggested it myself; my daughter doesn't like Smokey.
BW, Chat is very appropriate here in Que.
FastEddie, my daughter is a movie nut, and we were trying to comeup with names from favourite movies or TV shows. So far, no luck.
Cynic, if it was my cat, it would definately get a cruise-themed name, but it's cat, so the final decision goes to her.
Angela and Rebel, the ears also made me think of Spock and Yoda, and I think he looks like Dobby (the house elf) from Harry Potter.
Y2C, JAC is different; I'll run that one by her. Also, Chester is a city in England where my husband comes from!
Lombard, cute, but he's already litter-box trained.....

Great suggestions people, keep 'em coming!

I'd call him Spot!

But that suggestion is from a guy who's first dog was called Kitty.

I loved standing by the front door yelling ... Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty.. and having a golden lab come running.

It doesn't matter what you call it... It won't come anyway... It's a cat!

You are all going to think I've really lost my mind now, but I've always let my cats "name themselves". After you have a cat for a week or two, something will just "come to you" . Sometimes the name changes We named our cat (16 years old) BJ, but most of the time we call him Peanut .

Our 15-yr.-old Siamese was named Bozo the Clown by the breeder. She said, "After you live with him for a week, you'll understand!" How true that turned out to be!

Sounds like his name sould be "GATO" spanish for cat or maybe bibs or bibby for the white on his chest.
Our cat showed up on our door step on St. Patricks day so we named her "patty"
She is a widgie or Norwegian Forest cat. pure bread and so sweet, but you can not hold her fom more than 20 seconds.

Askem. That way when someone ask your daughter his name she can point to the cat and say "Askem"

Donna - tell your dd to just wait until the little "darlin" poops on, pees in, scratches up or otherwise destroys something - the first word that comes out of her mouth should be the cats name. I'm a little more mellow with my advancing years - I've named my last two cats after liqueres and my birds after meds - i.e. Prozac, Zanax, lol.

I do envy her the kitten stage though - they are so darned cute - mine are getting a little old to play - kind of like me

I have not read all the other posts, but with him being gray, maybe Stormy would be a good one!

Well, it's almost a week she's had him, and the poor thing still doesn't have a name. She calls him by making that pursed lip kissy sound, but being a cat, he doesn't listen anyway!
Right now she's thinking "Gus Gus" after the little gray mouse in Cinderella, although he is the fat mouse, while Jacques is the skinny mouse, and the cat is very skinny.
I'll let you know what she decides, and I'll try to get a picture of him.

I had a grey cat like that once, but he had the LONGEST whiskers, so i dubbed him Mr. Whiskers. Not very original, but then, i am still rolling about Kuki's lab named Kitty....

My other cats were named M.F. (miff for the polite version) and Meow. (had fun with that one.)
