I was M.I.A. today because I spent the whole day in hospital. Just got home awhile ago. Woke up this morning with a killer migraine, which made me vomit, which triggered my arrythmia (existing condition). Couldn't get my heart rate back to normal and had to call 911 and take me to the hospital. I was so dizzy, nauseous, hyperventilating, going numb, it was really scary. Finally, with an IV drip and a Gravol drip, I started to feel better, but had to wait hours for a series of test results. They really thought I had had a stroke, and kept doing neurological tests and more EKGs on me. Thankfully, everything turned out normal, but I will have to be really careful about headaches turning into migraines from now on!
I'm SO glad to be back home, and to be able to check out the boards once again!
I sorry to hear about your health problems. Take it easy from now on.
I know about the headaches you experenced. I get them too. I have to lay down with the room dark and no noise till they go away. 8)
Donna: I bet that was very scary. I'm glad you are back home and that all of your tests checked out okay.

Donna--I am so glad that you are feeling better. You must have been very scared with them running so many tests. Just happy that the tests were fine. Did they give you anything for a preventive for the migraines. (See what they have my DD do below) Hope James and the kids are okay also after this frightening day. I agree with Bill, you need a cruise QUICKLY. PLEASE take care of yourself.
I have never experienced the pain of a migraine but have watched my daughter Lynn suffer with them. She was diagnosed with them when she was 10. She only gets them now when she is very stressed. Unfortunately, she is a 2nd year nursing student with a heavy class load, so she has STRESS. Luckily she has Imitrex and knows how to take care of herself. Her neurologist advice her to take 3 Advil and 1 Excedrin Migraine 1/2 hour later when she feels one starting. If it continues to get worse she takes her Imitrex. So far the Advil/Excedrin combo works.
I am sorry to hear that also. Migraines are horrid and I do hope that you don't experience that again. Do you know what brought it on? I have read about different triggers for people like stress and not enought rest. I've stopped using the artificial sweeteners and eat more organic type foods. I've read about how the artificial stuff can accumulate very gradually and cause problems.
The stroke issue must have been frightening and I am glad that they didn't find anything.
Wow, RD A bad Tuesday, indeed. While I've never had a migrain, I know people who suffer with them. I did go to the hospital a while back with the irregular heartbeat thing. It's really scarey. Hope you're taking it easy and that whatever meds the doctor gives you will straighten out the problems.
Donna--forgot to ask, was this the first migraine you have experienced? Also, do they know what triggered it? I know that certain foods and/or stress can bring on migraines. Did they go over a list of triggers with you? Boy am I nosy.
Donna, I noticed you missing yesterday. Wow!!!!! What a day you had. I am so glad to hear that you were able to get to the hospital and had a speedy recovery once they started taking care of you. Take it easy today at the pumpkin farm. Your amazing!
RD-Sorry to hear about your scary migraine. I am so glad to hear it was not a stroke!!!!! I hope you take it easy today at the Pumpkin market.
My husband has had bad migraines from when he was a kid. He gets bad headaches often, but they do not turn into migraines often:thankfully!!!
Take it easy RD!

VALOR Jan/05-our first family cruise was great!
Thanks for all your concern everyone. To those of you who asked, I have experienced migraines beofre, but only occasionally, and usually quickly treated with Tylenol, rest and a dark room. This one started suddenly, woke me up in fact, and was so severe I could hardly see. I am still trying to figure out the trigger. Perhaps the painting with enamel paint I was doing before bedtime the night before? I don't know, but I sure don't want to go through that again! I landed in the hospital once before with arrythmia brought on by vomiting, from either food poisoning or excessive MSG in the food. (I was returning from a restaurant dinner).
One has to be so careful nowadays...
