Default SIGNS of the times

I collect funny signs.

Some signs are funny because they are stupid, like this one. . .

Others are funny just because they're necessary. This morning I was at the dentist's office, and there's a new sign on the door from the waiting room into the treatment area. It reads. . .

Please do not use cell phones while being treated. Thank you for your cooperation.

I laughed out loud, and later asked the dentist about it.

"You wouldn't believe it," he told me. "First of all, we can't even get them out of the waiting room because they're on the phone and won't move."

I looked at him incredulously.

"This is Washington," he added. I knew what he meant. Everybody here is very important. If you don't believe it, just ask them.

He went on to tell me that sometimes when he steps out of the room for a minute, they're on the phone again when he gets back--even if their mouth is full of cotton and all the other junk that dentists shove in there. It sounded like a Saturday Night Live skit.

Later, Bonnie the tooth cleaner told me that Dr. Stu is a lot more aggressive than she is with the cell freaks. She said that he's started taking the phones out of their hands, turning them off, and telling them that if this isn't a convenient time to be at the dentist's, he'll be glad to reschedule them.

Boy, am I glad I'm not that important!

Hi AR,
Thats funny you should memtion the signs. We like to get a laugh out of the mistakes too.
We were driving thru a small town when we came to a T-split in the road, turn either left or right. Streight ahead was a cemetary. the street sign had arrows pointing left, right and one said DEAD END
My dh can find mistakes in the dicionary, and is forever correcting my spelling.

Oh, AR, that real life cruise sign is hysterical! (I wanna watch when one does!) Thx for sharing it....and I think I'm REALLY glad I'm not as important as those people in Washington, too!

Loved your sign AR, and I can't believe what your dentist has to put up with! We have had to forbid parents' cell phones on fieldtrips, because if a parent is coming along to supervise their kids or one or two others, they can't be on the phone all the time!
I have a cell phone, for emergencies only, and don't even like using it in public, much less having to hear other people's private conversations!

I've seen that sign, or at least one just like it, in San Diego!

San Diego it is. I actually got off the freeway, doubled back on city streets and made my wife drive through there again so I could get the shot.

In our town we have a nice sign for our "sewer" plant - City of ...... Water treatment Center. If you look up and a little to the side you see that the street sign where the plant is is T.P. Lane. I always mean to try and get a picture with both signs in it, but it is on an awkard corner. I guess someone in our city has a sense of humor.
