View Poll Results: Most non secure charges to your cabin from what cruise line
What cruiseline has the most non secure charge to your cabin
From the cruise line on the poll which one do you feel has the most non secure system for charges to your cabin?
The cruise lines on the poll are considered some of the highest lines that cruisers select.
I know Carnival, Holland and Princess are under one corporation as well as Celebrity and Royal Caribbean are run under another.
Each line runs under its own entity and tries to be different, as well as their accounting aboard.
Everyone of has experienced problems with charges to the cabin at one time or another. By the poll which line do you feel has inadequate system for charges from bars, shops, excursions, wine at dinner or anything else that pass card gets you?
The answer may surprise you!!
Take the poll, it is fun and always of interest to learn the secrets.

tide pride..I don't think you are dense about this issue..perhaps the poll should be reworded to reflect what the pollster is really trying to ask
perhaps the poll should ask in which area (bar, spa, shore excursions, shops) do you find has the greatest possibility of error of charging your sign and sail card incorrectly
of course the question would have to be worded in a more simple fashion
Congratulations! You have successfully graduated from the Mike M school of posting!!! I don't understand.
My vote is any cruise line that I am on. It always seems that my onboard charge account increases each day for no apparent reason. When the final bill arrives and I look at it I find myself going: "Yeah, I guess I did. Yeah I guess I did..............."
Take care,
Mike (Who has only had one erroneous charge on his bill, and it was a doozy)

I have sailed 3 cruise lines and never had a problem.
If there ever was a problem, I would think it would be staff and not the cruise line. Cruise lines have too much at stake to pull something like that. Plus, they must have a signed chit in order to add to the final bill.
OK have to agree, the wording was not the best. And yes sailing each line would help.
So we will forget that poll.
I'll give the answer for those wanting to know.
All the cruise lines on the poll except one uses the sign and pass card for purchases on board.
Holland (the answer) asks for your cabin number verbally in front of anyone who might be in earshot and verifies it on the their computer by stating your first name to you. No ID or pass card is shown for verification. This is what I meant by non secure.
Sorry for the confusion.

Actually I did not know that - that is interesting! We have all probably gotten a wrong charge here and there. I think I did on NCL but that was old management not new so wouldn't count. I always look at it though and think "No Way!" does that count Debbie
ok, now it's my turn to be dense..I was on the Zuiderdam last year and I admit I was on drugs from my back operation, but I remember giving my sign and sail card for charges and not my room number..but then again I was on drugs
The ships that are older in the fleet do not have the computer set up to read the sail pass cards for charges. HAL in the future will have that capability on all ships eventually.
There are more older ships as the Ryndam, Statendam, Zaandam etc. than new.
Once it gets in place you will be able to view your cabin charges on the interactive TV. No time frame was given when it will take place.
I just found it interesting with todays technology HAL is behind the times.
Even after going in for the change to "Signature of Excellence" the computers were not set up for a more secure way of charges and read the sail pass card.

We were with our Post Office group on the Conquest two years ago. The poolside waiter could not easily wade through the deck chairs to get our friends cards so he asked what the folio number was. Rick made the mistake of calling it out. Now these are people who deal with five digit numbers allllll day - they are also outrageous pranksters with one another. Do I even need to tell you that all the buckets of beer (12 cajuns, shudder to think of the quantity we're talking here) for the next 3 days were charged to Rick's room. The cost of the bar bill $xxx, the look on his face as he opened his statement - priceless! It was made all the funnier because Rick is the cheap skate of the bunch and known to mooch if given half the chance.
Of course we all paid him back (yeh, right). Payback's hell.
But seriously, I've never had any problems in our 23 cruises and that was the only breach I'd ever noticed. Guess I've been lucky.
Y2C..thanks for the clarification...I'm sure there is a reason why HAL didn't upgrade their computer systems on their older ship during the SOE upgrade
I do remember during the 80's when I first started cruising, I never had any problems with my room charges and having to give my cabin number out loud..of course I kept a copy of all my receipts and reconciled them the next day on a daily basis at the pursor's desk

You know Steve, maybe I have been hanging around here on CM too long, but I understood that question perfectly!!!! And I did cast my vote for Holland America - as I know that they will sometimes just ASK for the stateroom number instead of swiping the card.
