I have login problems using home PC but not work PC... Not sure what the difference is.
What I do notice lately is that these boards are getting sluggish and slow. I don't recall anyone else mentioning that but I experience slowness every day. It seems to me the old boards were much faster in connection.
Yes, I have noticed that the message boards take me to where I have to sign in each time.
This is very annoying. also, most of the time the speed is slower then usual.
what has happenend, Mike or Paul??
There is no more ad space on this board than the old one. The new format does cause a reload on ad refreshes.
One thing to note: Dial up users in North America are now at 38%. This is as of October 30th 2005, according to A.C. Nielsen Netratings. Just two years ago they accounted for 60% of the Internet subscriber's. The number of dial up users is estimated to be under 20% by 2008.
There will always be dial up Internet because of service issues for remote users but at some point dial up will go the way of IBM PC.
Dial up users: 54.3 million
Broadband: 86.1 million
I have telecomm background and believe in using bandwidth responsibly but there is a point when hanging on to a technology such as dial-up because "it meets my needs" and then complaining because things are slow, especially when an alternative is available, is a no win situation. The world isn't going to change back, and it shouldn't.

If you're having loggin problems it might be because you don't have enough cache. Having lot's of cache seems to be the best way to solve most problems. Can't get a date? Get more cache. Can't get a table? Pull out some cache. Want better memory? Give up some cache!
But if, after you get more cache and you're still having log in problems it must be operator error.
Book me on your next cruise and enjoy your personal punching bag.
There has been and continues to be some " slowness " issues with these new boards and it is not necessarily related to dial up. I have broad band with 4 meg speed and still note some random issues of slowdown in connecting to these boards and/ or threads.
